Matheran, is Asia’s tiniest hill station and remains pollution free because no motorized vehicles are allowed on its tiny roads or the pathways that lead into deep woods......but only one vechile allowed in this place that is ambulance............. It has lots to offer by way of scenic view points, long treks through forested areas, and a quaintness of its own.

Whenever we visit a Matheran and sit in its thick shade the notes of the cuckoo and the Bulbul and various other birds provide heavenly music to our ears. The thicknesses of the trees hide the musicians from our view. But we crave to have a look at them. Matheran shows us numerous varieties of birds, which never meet our eyes in the cities, exhibiting different hues, different sizes and different voices, some sweet and some shrill

Matheran The picturesque hill station is one of the most popular trekking destinations. A mere 100 km from Mumbai, the hill station is situated at a height of 2625 ft above sea level. You can trek either from Panvel or from Neral. The Neral to Matheran route is an 11 km tar-road trek and is ideal for beginners.
