Name - Yellow Shore Crab

Yellow Shore Crabs are a group of small crab species with a beautiful yellowish-green colour. They are native to the United States and Canada and found mostly along shorelines and similar geographical areas. They are omnivorous, and their diet includes algae, plant-based food and small vertebrates.

I spotted the crab while trekking on a Hill (Naneghat) in Maharashtra, India. We started at 4 a.m., and it was pitch dark. I suddenly observed a beautiful crab with a bright colour and took a quick picture without understanding which crab species.

Gear: Canon EOS M5 + Tamron 18-400mm.
EXIF: 300mm, f6.3, 1/200 Sec, ISO: 1600, handheld.

"Carefully observing"
ID - Malabar Lark

The Malabar Lark is a medium-sized bird (17-18cm) native to the Indian subcontinent and famous for their distinct melodious tone. They are primarily found in the western and southern parts of the Indian subcontinent, including India, Sri Lanka, and parts of Pakistan. Malabar Lark is omnivorous, and their diet consists of seeds, insects, and small invertebrates.

I spotted this bird on a trek to Naneghat Hill. I was lucky enough that the bird came very close to me. Otherwise, the bird was very small, and I couldn't get the details on the feather and eye even with my 400mm lens on the APS-C camera.

Location - Naneghat Hill, Maharashtra, India
Date - 14-Oct-2023
Exif - Canon M5 + Tamron 18-400 mm at 400 mm, f7.1, 1/1000 Sec, ISO 400

Went on a trek to Naneght yesterday, enjoying a splendid morning far removed from the hustle and bustle of Mumbai city. This trekking path once served as a commercial route during the era of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The climb proved to be steeper than my initial expectations, but the breathtaking view at the summit made it all worthwhile.

"The White King" - White tiger at Alipore Zoo, Kolkata, India (January 2023)

The white tiger or bleached tiger is a leucistic pigmentation variant of the Mainland tiger. It is reported in the wild from time to time in the Indian states of Madhya Pradesh, Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, in the Sunderbans region and especially in the former State of Rewa. It has the typical black stripes of a tiger, but its coat is otherwise white or near-white. [Wikipedia]
