Wondrous Heaven

Wondrous Heaven Wondrous Heaven is an Astronomy popularising entity, which conducts workshops & live streaming events What is there in the sky?

W O N D R O US H E A V E N is the handiwork of the two astronomy enthusiasts from Mumbai, Naiteek Vikamsey and Jaiprakash Udar, who have always wondered about how the skies are? Where are we from the perspective of this gigantic universe? These questions had always amazed them and hence one fine day they were determined enough to start a new social venture, wherein they can pass on this joy and

curiosity about the universe to the others. The sorry state of knowledge about astronomy in the school syllabus further fueled their desire to popularize astronomy among the school students primarily and adults too.

🌌 Monkey Head Nebula (NGC 2174)
A vast cloud of gas and dust in Orion where new stars are forming. The glow comes from hot young stars within the nebula that energize the gas, giving us red from hydrogen and bluish tones from oxygen. Its shape looks like a monkey’s face, which is why it is called the Monkey Head.

This is the difference a modification makes.
A stock camera captures what your eyes see…

An astro-modified camera captures what your eyes miss.

Hydrogen-alpha emissions, deep reds, hidden structures — finally visible.

One sees the night…
The other reveals the universe.

As the night slowly unfolds over the Little Rann,
the Milky Way rises gracefully across the sky…
while clouds drift silently beneath, carried by the desert winds.
Time moves—you just have to pause to see it.

Orbit of Fire

Created during a session of Milkyway Saga Photography Workshop, this frame captures the silent motion of the night sky through star trails, with a moment of creative expression on Earth.

While the stars traced their endless circles, we explored light painting techniques — blending science, motion, and art into a single frame. Star trails above, fire below… and a night full of learning in between.

Full Spectrum: When the Darkness turned Luminous

This image is not a single moment — it is a compression of time.

At first glance the sky looks calm, but it’s anything but. The bright arc running through the frame is the Milky Way, our home galaxy seen from inside it. In winter, this part of the galaxy is packed with structure — dense star fields, glowing hydrogen clouds, and dark dust lanes that break the light apart. These colours and details are largely invisible to the naked eye; they emerge as the camera patiently gathers faint light over time, revealing what human vision cannot.

In the lower half of the frame sits Orion, easily recognised by its belt. Within it lies the Orion Nebula, a stellar nursery about 1,300 light-years away. Just below Betelgeuse, Orion’s red shoulder star, is the Rosette Nebula, a wide region where new stars are forming. Nearby, the dark shape of the Horsehead Nebula cuts into the surrounding glow, while the faint Witch Head Nebula appears as a soft reflection against the night.

Above Orion, the tight blue cluster of the Pleiades stands out clearly. To the left of it, the stretched glow of the California Nebula can be traced faintly across the Milky Way. Following the arc upward toward the upper left corner of the frame, the paired stars of the Double Cluster come into view, and beyond them lie the vast Heart and Soul Nebulae, distant star-forming regions embedded deep within our galaxy’s spiral arm.

Near the bottom centre, the brightest steady object is Jupiter, shining low above the horizon. Toward the bottom right, Sirius — the brightest star in Earth’s night sky — dominates the scene.

Scattered across the frame are meteors from the Geminids meteor shower, brief flashes that last only seconds but remind us that the sky is never still.

Below all of this, the vast and arid expanse of the Little Rann of Kutch remains unchanged and silent — an ancient landscape beneath a sky overflowing with light, colour, and motion.

Darkness was never empty.

Rann and Stars - 15th-16th November 2025

What an unforgettable night in the Little Rann of Kutch!
We began our journey by walking through our beautifully lit Solar System Scale Model — tracing the vast distances between the planets under the cool desert breeze and the glow of the night sky. Each stop sparked curiosity, questions, and excitement.

And then, the real magic began. Giant telescopes revealed the Moon’s craters, star clusters, nebulae, and distant worlds that left everyone in awe.
Families, kids, travellers, and astronomy lovers — all coming together to celebrate the universe with joy and wonder.
Thank you to this amazing group for bringing such energy, positivity, and curiosity to Rann and Stars. Nights like these are what Wondrous Heaven is all about. 🌌✨
