Wedding Genie

Wedding Genie A photography and film collective that specializes in the art of crafting visual love stories. Each reminiscent of the transpiring present.

A photo album is that book of time that allows one to move from one happy moment to the next. Sometimes these moments are a given but sometimes they come to us as a surprise. But what lies beyond contention is that each and every moment is poignant. And each worth a thousand words. And capturing them all prudent. Ensuring that these moments are never lost on time is where we come in. For weddings,

portfolios, baby showers, birthdays and all those other nameless events that mean a lot to you please do call on us. We are geography independent and are happy to travel to where we are needed. So far we have already covered events in Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh and Dehradun and look forward to expanding our footprint.

Just wrapped up an amazing shoot with a rare couple. Thought it best to share a teaser that gave nothing away.

I have seen photographers share images of the iconic Gateway of India. But how many of them have shared one from this vantage point.

Ingredients: 5D MK III, Canon 16-35 mm 2.8

A lot of planning goes into a couple’s shoot. There are several rounds of discussions to lock onto themes, a lot of back and forth between our stylists and the couple for their look and then a well outlined shooting schedule.

But none of this is applicable to Neha and Mukul. In their case we met on Friday night for drinks, and then we checked into a resort on Saturday for the shoot !

To call it impromptu would be to put it gently ☺

But what ensued from the time we checked in was something neither this couple nor the team at Wedding Genie will ever forget.

An intellectual debate on choice of tie, being stuck in an elevator between floor 2 and 7 for 15 minutes, locking ourselves in a bathroom despite having booked two rooms, calling it a night at 4:30 am and chasing the sunrise at 6 am, balancing on a hammock, running through dried fish to reach the beach, going through several rounds of strawberry shake for breakfast and extending checkout time by 4 hours. And this is just the tip of the ice-berg !

But through all that we created some beautiful images.

Neha looked gorgeous in every look our team crafted for her and Mukul’s unwillingness to get his eyes off his beautiful fiancée was proof enough.

Here is one little beauty from our memorable shoot with these two love birds.

A pretty bride in waiting. A doting fiancé by her side. And a gesture to let her know she will be loved. Forever and ever.

You can plan everything about a shoot. But you can’t plan this.

Wedding photographers very often choose not to capture the sheer chaos of the wedding festivities.

It is our job to capture the beauty in that chaos. It is for this reason above all I love to call myself a wedding photojournalist.

Wedding pictures may look pristine but what most don't realize is that it is a photojournalistic eye that captures these beautiful moments amidst the ocean of variables.

This is one of my favorite images I have ever created. This bride made some of the fastest changes I have ever seen and ran from dressing room to mandap and back in a way most brides don't.

The reason why I can't forget her is because amongst all that was happenning around her she never lost her cool and she never forgot to smile.

Her smile is what to me was the cornerstone of her wedding pictures. She made my job very easy.

To let an image convey the hustle and bustle of this bride without losing her charming smile is why this is in my top favorites.

To add to that both families were incredibly kind to me. They treated me well and never made me feel like an outsider. These were early days in my photography career and such kindness was rare.

Aditi & Mithun - you'll are one couple I have kept in touch with and enjoyed seeing you'll set up your home, buy your new car, expand your family with Kaily and Chebu.

I am your FAN.

Thanks for letting me be a part of all the fun :) I won't ever forget it.

Couple's shoots are always a lot of fun. There are many hours that go into the planning of it all. The discussions with clients very often give us a wonderful insight as to what made them fall in love with one another to begin with.

I personally consider this a perk of being a wedding photographer. Nothing better than a real love story to melt the heart :)

These stories always start with different sets of hurdles, twists, funny moments and sacrifices. But by the same coin they all end the same way - when one says to the other - I do.

So when most of these shoots begin, the couples are excited and anxious. They bring with them a nervous energy that very quickly evolves into playful enthusiasm – a very important ingredient in any shoot. But towards the end of the shoot - usually in sync with the setting sun, they are overcome with a sense of calm.

I very often find them huddled in quiet reflection. Their hopeful gaze into the sunset is punctuated briefly with exchanged glances. It is in these moments they know that everything is right in the world. There is a comforting sense of assurance. A lifetime of possibilities to look forward to. And many dreams to collectively realize.

Its them against the world. Just the way they wanted it.

Wedding festivities are even more joyous in the company of close family and friends.

At times they set the tone and mood by simply being themselves. This could never have been truer for this beautiful wedding in Lucknow.

The Haldi was an intimate rooftop affair. Low Jaunary temperatures blend with sublime morning light made for a delightful time to sing and be merry.

With the rituals of the haldi already observed the cousins and elders sat in a circle and serenaded the beautiful bride to be.

Other like myself who are not gifted with the voice of angels sat at the outer rims absorbing the fun.

In the midst of all this the mother of the bride - a simple and quaint woman - joined in for a moment. She knelt behind her two beautiful daughters and watched with a loving smile.

Suddenly her arms reached out to cradle these two girls - her babies who today were strong and accomplished women in their own right and offered them a kiss on the forehead.

Such kisses never need a reason to be planted. They are always welcomed. They are given with unconditional love and received with unconditional gratitude.

Capturing this little gem in the midst of all the fun and frolic is what makes me love what I do :)

Children at weddings give you moments that noone else can.

This particular moment occured in a church. Church weddings always create one particular problem for photographers - you wish to take pictures from either side of the isle but at the same time not interrupt the proceedings. So I usually shuttle back and forth through the back. This way I also get a chance to see what the rest of the wedding party is upto and capture any little moments occuring in silos.

On one such express shuttle I noticed a large pink bow. The colour and size arrested my attention and my feet came to a screeching halt. When I leaned over a little I noticed the bow belonged to a cute little girl who clearly was not interested in what was going on but was there anyway - quiet and unassuming.

The frame before me was a delight to my eyes. As I adjusted my camera i prayed that I wouldn't scare her away. But she did not flinch. To her I was just a large cloud passing by.

Composing this one came so natuallly that I almost feel most of us with camera in hand would have captured this moment this way.

It is for this reason I don't give myself much credit for this image. But I do consider myself fortunate to have stumbled upon this moment and captured it.

Wedding Micro-fashion

These gorgeous ladies stole hearts and the show with their many glamorous avatars during a wedding in Lucknow.

Throughout the wedding festivities they were inseprable which gave anyone with a camera plenty of great moments to capture.

Here is one little beauty from the day of the Reception in the hotel lobby.

Its one of my favorites because their looks are complete with matching crowns and hair-dos. The contrasting colours are a testament to their contrasting personalities. But above all they seem joined at the hip - a metaphorical and visual representation of their infallible bond.

My brother from the SAME mother.

An investment banker by profession, my brother is the epitome of "busy". He talks in millions and is a shark at a negotiation table.

The kind of resource every company would want on their pay roll but can't afford.

This is him at a family wedding - "Blending in".
