The Namdroling Monastery - ‘The Golden Temple’ Located in Bylakuppe, in Kodagu district, Karnataka. Lord Buddha is seated here in the centre with Lord Amitayus and Lord Padmasambhava on either sides. Visitors can pray, meditate, give offerings and rotate the mani prayer drums. Rotating these prayer drums is believed to give the same benefit as chanting “Om Mani Padme Hum”.

Om - is composed of three letters. A, U, and M, symbolizing the practitioner's impure body, speech, and mind; The development of pure body, speech, and mind comes from gradually leaving the impure states.

The path is indicated by the next three syllables.

Mani - meaning jewel - Just as a jewel is capable of removing poverty, so the altruistic mind of enlightenment is capable of removing the difficulties, of cyclic existence and of solitary peace.

Padme - meaning lotus, symbolize wisdom, just as a lotus grows forth from mud but is not sullied by the faults of mud, so wisdom is capable of putting you in a situation of non-contradiction.

Hum - Purity must be achieved by an indivisible unity of method and wisdom, hum is the seed syllable of Akshobhya—the immovable, the unfluctuating, that which cannot be disturbed by anything

The world is a mirror, an imaging of love's perfection - Rumi

Originally known as the Masjid e Jahānnumā (Reflection of the World). It is commonly known as Jama Masjid meaning “Friday mosque.”

Jama Masjid is Delhi’s principal mosque, where the city's Muslims traditionally gather for Friday prayers.

Shot during the morning twilight hour with a 16mm fish eye lens which gives this unique perspective by bending straight lines and causing a distortion.

Originally the residence or bangla of Raja Jai Singh, an admirer of the eighth Sikh Guru - Guru Har Krishan Ji who had stayed here for a few months as guest of Raja Jai Singh in the year 1664. During that year there was a smallpox and Cholera epidemic in Delhi, Guru Har Krishan Ji helped by giving aid and fresh water from the well at this house to the people suffering. Soon he too contracted smallpox and eventually died here. Raja Jai Singh in his memory constructed a small tank over the well. The Gurdwara and its Sarovar are now a place of great reverence for Sikhs and its water is said to have healing properties.

Even today during the Covid-19 nationwide lockdown, the mega kitchens of this Gurdwara prepare food daily for over 40,000 needy people across the city.

Listen to silence, it has so much to say - Rumi

The Lonar Crater and lake, located in the Buldhana district of Maharashtra is a hyper-velocity impact crater in basaltic rock.

An asteroids left its scars , so vast and deep that even the ever-changing topography of this region has not been able to cover it in over 52,000 years, infact one recent study claims that crater could be about 5,70,000 years old.

The Daitya Sudan temple nearby has a small frieze on its ceiling in the middle chamber showing Vishnu crushing an asura with his foot which the locals claim, is the origin of the legend of why the place is called Lonar. Lavanasur - in Sanskrit, Lavana means salt and Asura means demon, used to terrorise the villagers here. Lavanasur was hiding in a lake covered by a hill. Vishnu kicked the hill away and placed his foot in the demon’s navel, pressing till the blood poured out and killed him, his blood became the salty lake.

The Lonar crater lake is a saline and alkaline lake with a pH of 10.5

Blue rains over Victoria Terminus.

A morning twilight hour shot of the Victoria Terminus station, Mumbai.

There is something so magical and beautiful about the rains in Mumbai. Five beautiful ingredients came together for this photograph - Victoria Terminus, early morning rains, the blue hour, blue lights on VT and no traffic.

Victoria Terminus station was built between 1878 and 1887 to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria. The name of the station is now Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus

Love is a bridge between you and everything - Rumi

The beautiful Howrah Bridge at night. Built between 1936 and 1942. A cantilever suspension design, the bridge does not have nuts and bolts and was built by riveting the whole structure. Built almost 90% with high tensile steel supplied by Tata Steel. It is one of the most iconic bridges in India and continues to be a symbol of Kolkata.

A Tamil Vaishnavite Priest, Mahabalipuram

The Urdhva Pundra (Tilak) are three vertical markings worn by Vaishnavite priest on their forehead.

These vertical lines signify the Trinity-Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva; the three syllables of Om – A, U, M; three realities – Maya, Brahman and Atman; the three bodies – Sthula, Sukshma, and Karana ; the three worlds - Bhu, Bhuva, Svaha and the three division of time- Past, Present and Future.

The area between the eyebrows is said to be the sixth chakra, ajna or the seat of "concealed wisdom".The Ajna chakra has two lotus petals, one dedicated to the sun, the other to the moon (e.g. light and dark) merged at the centre which are repeated by the two colors of the Bindu.

Each Vaishnava sampradaya have their own distinctive style of tilak based on the siddhanta of their particular lineage.
