Female Baya Weaver (Ploceus philippinus) (juvenile) clicked at Ambazari backwaters.
Baya Weavers are best known for their intricate hanging nests, woven from grass and leaves, often seen dangling from trees in colonies near water. This female is likely in her non-breeding phase, as she does not display the bright yellow hues of the breeding male. A quiet moment of a bird resting amidst nature’s greenery, documentary-style shot that highlights the beauty of everyday birdlife.

Painted Francolin (Francolinus pictus) clicked at Ambazari Backwaters.
Pausing on its perch amidst the skeletal branches, almost meditative against the empty sky.Capturing a Painted Francolin perched on a tree is a rare moment. Their natural tendency is to stay low in cover, making this shot especially unique as it highlights both the bird’s detailed plumage and its unusual behavior.
It’s not common to see a Painted Francolin perched openly on a tree branch silhouetted against the sky. 🌿🐦
The Painted Francolin is a striking game bird of the Indian subcontinent, admired for its bold markings and secretive nature. Unlike its close relative, the Grey Francolin, the Painted Francolin has a rich chestnut head and neck, finely streaked with darker lines, and a beautifully spotted brown body that gives it its “painted” name. Its reddish legs further add to its distinctive appearance.
