BTS from the current documentary shoot for traditional sari.
On a documentary shoot today, tracing the quiet revival of a forgotten weave. 🧵
Commissioned by INTACH Delhi, this project is about more than cloth — it's about memory. A green and black cotton saree, once woven on a dobby pit loom in a little-known village near Badami, Karnataka, is being brought back to life using mill spun cotton yarn and traditional warp techniques.
One of the biggest challenges? There's only one dobby maker left in the entire region. And getting azo-free dyed yarns means travelling hundreds of kilometres away.
This is what textile revival really looks like — slow, imperfect, and deeply necessary. 📽️
