Human beings are supposed to be inherently good creatures. Maslow talked about it. And Rogers did too. When their fundamental physiological needs will be taken care of they will by virtue of being human be motivated to move towards actualization. They’ll do wonders if you let them be. That is how all inventions were discovered for the very first time.

But remember that they are also a victim of their circumstances. What we see is the final action or the consequence of their behavior, but what we forget is that this action isn’t his alone. It is a product of their experiences and their environments. And what really is man if not his experiences in this whole wide world. So whatever they choose it is going to be right, right for them, right in that very moment.

Once a teacher asked a class to describe what life meant to them in a word. While people described it as happiness, contentment, travel, adventure etcetera, I was lost into my own thoughts.

I felt overwhelmed, thinking about my own life. Everything that I had been through. All the pain and struggles I had endured. And all those moments which made me immensely happy too. For a moment I thought about the futility of this exercise because I couldn’t describe my idea of life in just a word! 

When the teacher moved on to ask me, I instantly replied saying SHUHUL TAAPH. 

Shuhul taaph, as a word has kashmiri origins but it aptly explains the essence of life. It refers to the first winter sun. It refers to the processes of suffering and healing that are inbuilt in life.

When was the last time you did something you liked solely for yourself? If you can’t remember, this post is just FOR YOU. 

I know you’re very busy. I know you can’t find time because you literally have none. Your job keeps you on your toes and all you wish to do at the end of the day is to crash in your bed. But what I am going to ask you to do will take only a minute, perhaps. Every day at 7 PM I want you to take a break. Stop everything that you are doing for one whole minute. And in that one minute, appreciate yourself for being wherever you are. Express gratitude to your being and for all that you have endured for where you are today. Be happy and content with wherever you are because you are exactly there where you are supposed to be.

The biggest paradox of our existence is probably the fact that we are highly meaning-making beings thrown into a highly meaningless world. The answer lies in the acceptance of this futility. In accepting that there might not be any savior after all. That there might not be any fathomable purpose after all. 

Therefore, when you have to give meaning to suffering, to nothingness, to pointlessness and to meaninglessness perhaps, you might as well do it with grace, with dignity and in a way that the world chooses to follow you. As Nietzsche puts it “He who has a why to live, can bear almost any how”.

Love passionately. Feel ardently. Develop compassion. See around the world. Be a wanderer. And don’t give a dime’s f**k to even being a lost one!

I always wanted to visit the Medows Of Shangarh ever since I got to know about this place. But time hi nai mil paata tha.
Close to Manali and Tirthan valley, it's a must-visit place for those who are seeking some peace in the Valley.

Fun fact: Police with belts and their hats are not allowed on the ground..
