Bergen, Norway......
Bergen is situated on the Norway's southwestern coast. It is also know as the Gateway to the Fjords. It is the second largest city in Norway. The old Wharf houses the UNESCO Heritage site of Bryygen, with beautiful and colourful wooden houses dating back to the 1700s. Bergen is known as the 'city of seven mountains'.

Bergen is also the birth place of famous composer, Edvard Grieg (who looks a lot lot like Albert Einstein).

A great view of Bergen is from Mt. Floyen. The best way to get there is using the Funicular.

The elusive beauty, " Blood Pheasant (Male)".....

This is a beauty I have dreamt of capturing with my camera, for a very long time. My trip to Sikkim (India) wasn't going very well, thanks to cyclone Fani. But thanks to the spotting skills of our Guide Aditya Chavan, and the patience of my dear friend Rajesh, we got this beuaty after trekking up about a thousand feet up a hill side side @ 13500 feet. But the prize was sweet, this beauty amidst lovely Premula Flowers....

Fan Throated Lizard (sitana)
Pune, May 2018

Fan-throated lizards are small to medium sized lizards that are ground dwelling and are usually found in dry scrubby, open habitats. The males possess a fan-like extension that they protrude during breeding season as a part of courtship and territorial display. The genus was merely known by a few species until recently and work conducted by recent researchers hint on unprecedented diversity within the genus.

Majority of areas in Little Rann of Kutch (LRK), Gujarat were declared as sanctuary area by Gujarat Government in 1973. This shot of the Peregrine Falcon was clicked in 2010.

The Rufous-gorgeted Flycatcher (Ficedula strophiata) is a species of bird in the Muscicapidae family.

It is found in the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia, ranging across Bangladesh, Bhutan, Hong Kong, India, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, and Vietnam. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.

The co-existence of the old with the modern… Mahatma Phule Mandai, Pune… made sometime in the 1880s.

The Kumbh Mela in Nashik is split into 2 different locations, about 35 kms apart, Tapovan (Sudhugram) in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar. This practice has been followed since the times of the Peshwas. 10 Akhadas (Shiv Bhakts) are located in Trimbakeshwar and 3 Akhadas (Vishnu Bhakts) are located in Tapovan (Sadhugram). Due to this reason the crowd is split. Trimbak, as it is more commonly known as, is a small village with narrow lanes. In the backdrop we have cloud kissed hills. It is these hills which are the actual source of the river Godavari.

The images of the Naga Sadhu’s are not full length,because, a Naga Sadhu is supposed to be totally devoid of any clothing. They are normally only wearing Rudraksh Malas (Bead Strings) and nothing else. I didn’t the full length images would be appropriate here. Another typical habit of the Naga Sadhu’s, is them smoking their Chillums. A few images of the Sadhu’s smoking their Chillums from 2015 when I visited the Kumbh Mela in Nashik.

Long Legged Buzzard, (Bikaner Outskirts)

This image was taken in the evening just as the light had started fading. The area around Bikaner, Rajasthan is a very important stop for migratory Raptors (Bird of Prey viz. Eagles, Vultures, Buzzards, Kites etc) during the winter migration.

This is a Panorama of 13 images, taken with a 70-200 lens.

We are looking down at the village of Chichum and the surrounding mountains in the Spiti Valley.

The village is the clump that you see off centre to the right of the image. I just wanted to show the beauty of the mighty Himalayas.

The Tiger is our National Animal and the Pride of India; we need to protect it today for our future generations to see it tomorrow. We can all do our part towards this goal by simply not putting way too much pressure on your guide to show you the Tiger. When you go to a National Park, enjoy it in all its beauty and splendor. I promise you, you will be mesmerized by it, the way it mesmerizes me.
