Not all hunters hunt.
Some… wait for others to do the work.
This behaviour is called kleptoparasitism —
“klepto” meaning steal, and “parasite” meaning to benefit at someone else’s expense.
In the bird world, species like drongos, gulls, and even eagles use it as a strategy.
A drongo, for example, may mimic an alarm call, create panic, and then quietly steal food abandoned by other birds.
No chase. No effort. Just timing and intelligence.
It may feel unfair…
but in nature, survival isn’t about fairness.
It’s about what works.
