*Udhampur Police Attaches Property Worth ₹12 Lakhs of Notorious Drug Peddler Rakesh Kumar of Bishnah, Jammu*

Udhampur, April 17:

Udhampur Police continued its commitment to the *Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir campaign*.
The department emphasized intensified action against drug peddling along with sustained awareness efforts to protect the youth from substance abuse.

Udhampur Police has attached a movable property worth approximately *₹12 lakhs belonging to a notorious drug peddler Rakesh Kumar S/O Girdhari Lal R/O Ward No. 02, Bishnah, District Jammu* under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.

The attached property includes a *Honda City car (bearing a fake registration number)* which was found to have been purchased from the proceeds of illicit narcotics trade. The attachment has been carried out in connection with *FIR No. 265/2023 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act of Police Station Rehambal.*

During investigation, it was established that the accused had acquired the said vehicle through money earned from drug trafficking. Accordingly, the vehicle has been seized and attached under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act for further legal proceedings.

Further investigation is underway.

Amrit Pal Singh–IPS Assumes Charge as SSP Udhampur; Holds Introductory Meeting*

Udhampur, 10 April 2026

Shri Amrit Pal Singh–IPS today assumed charge as SSP Udhampur. On his arrival at District Police Headquarters Udhampur, he was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour and warmly welcomed by senior officers.

Soon after, he chaired an introductory meeting at DPL Udhampur to review the law & order and crime scenario of the district. All supervisory officers and SHOs attended the meeting where a brief presentation highlighted key challenges and priorities.

SSP Udhampur stressed professionalism, integrity and people-friendly policing, directing officers to focus on public grievance redressal, eradication of drug menace, tackling militancy and upholding the rule of law.

The meeting was also attended by DySP Hqrs Udhampur, SDPO Ramnagar, SDPO Chenani, DySP PC Basantgarh, DySP PC Latti, DySP PC Udhampur, DySP DAR DPL udhampur, ADO DPO Udhampur, DySP (Prob.) Inspectors and other officers of District Police Udhampur.
