Rumble in the Reeds | Arrow head and sibling | As a new chapter unfolds of arrowhead and her new litter in Ranthambore I can’t help but reminisce about her boisterous years when she was sparring for territory with her sibling in the reeds around Rajbagh lake. I have been fortunate to see her as a cub, raise her first litter and now can’t wait to visit Ranthambore to see her cubs around the magical lake territory

Resilience | Maya and Cub | Tadoba | On let’s celebrate the magnetism and enigma of a species that is awe inspiring. A species that is flourishing in India despite the vagaries of habitat loss. In this image Maya has a tender moment with her male cub Surya who is lucky to have survived to adulthood. Maya has lost most of her last three litters to intruding males but stands steadfast in the circle of life

Raptor in Greens | Crested Hawk Eagle with Kill | Kabini July 21 | The rains bring forth a flurry of activity for all predators including birds of Prey. We came across this raptor that was perched on an eye level stump with the fresh kill of a field mouse in its talons. These Raptors prey on rhodents, small mamals and birds. It was quite an experience to see this raptor feed on its kill in lush green foliage

Mara Blues | Leapord with Impala Kill | Masai Mara | On an evening drive we discovered an impala kill atop a solitary tree which was some distance from the scrub jungle. We arrived early next morning scouting the vicinity to see the leapord on the kill. The sky was overcast.. We positioned the jeep with the sun rising behind us to witness a warm glow in the sky. In a few minutes she decided to jump down to a lower beach.. and head for the cover of the tree line ⁣⁣⁣

Kaleidoscope | Violet Sabrewing | Costa Rica | This is a large, spectacular and aggressive hummingbird native to the cloud forests of Costa Rica. The males amazing purple plumage often looks blackish overall, but when it catches the light it turns into a spectacle with myriad hues of sparkling violet and blue iridescence. An amazing fact is that humming birds have a fourth colour cone in their retina that can detect ultraviolet light

Hidden Treasure | Cubs playing | Nagarhole | Kutta | This fable is from Veeranahosa halli range which did not have any jeep safaris until recently. We herd about frequent sightings near a waterhole of a tigress with three cubs and chanced a drive in the tourism zone of the park in September.. we noticed two cubs sitting in a clearing on the opposite bank of a nullah. We were the only vehicle there and the cubs were relaxed. Soon they started playing with each other .. the third cub was reclusive and stayed in the bushes.. with such young cubs playing in the open we were sure the mother was around and lo and behold we saw the mother observing the cubs from the vantage of a fallen tree trunk .. please scroll through the images

The Mystical Aura | Black Panther | Kabini | Nagarhole National Park | The monsoons conjure an imagery of lush green jungles with Misty morning that conceal the mysterious wonders that the jungle beholds. On one such morning drive .. we were attracted by alarm calls to find the Black Panther standing beside a tree with the backdrop of eupatorium bushes .
