शिव की नगरी शिवपुरी शिवपुरी का नाम शिप की पुरी है

शिवपुरी का पुराना नाम 'सीपरी' था आज़ादी के बाद इस शहर को भगवान शिव के नाम पर 'शिवपुरी' नाम प्राप्त हुआ।शिवपुरी मतलब शिव+पूरी= शिव की नगरी या जहाँ शिव जी का निवास हो।यहाँ पर भगवान शिव की विशेष रूप से पूजा अर्चना की जाती थी।इसलिए इसको शिवपुरी नाम प्राप्त हुआ।
