Our journey started from New Jalpaiguri station on 9th March,2019.The Puri-Kamakhya express was about to come and I was super excited !!!. I have heard about Manas a lot and also did a bit of research work before going there which I always do. Manas is an UNESCO natural world heritage site,a project tiger reserve,an elephant reserve,a biosphere reserve,a National park,a sanctuary, all at the same time.Located at the foothills of Himalaya ,it is contiguous with the royal Manas National park in Bhutan (although you need to take permission to enter the royal Manas nowadays). I spot this bird in rongtong during a bird finding trip of Saurav Chakraborty Photo Stock
It is Great Barbet_common breeding resident of northern and northeastern himalaya. Its moves lower in winter.
