This is a part of the Tianfu Square in Chengdu, China showing the surrounding glorious skyline. The possibilities of crazy cityscape shots were endless but I didn't bring my tripod with me. So no blue hour long exposure shot this time around.

These Giant Pandas are probably the spirit animals of most of us, right? Eat, sleep, repeat. That's what their day looks like and it makes me so jealous. What I wouldn't give to have that timetable!

Okay jokes aside, these pandas really just eat and sleep. It's mainly because of the low nutrients in primary food source, bamboo and their large size. An adult consumes around 20 kilos of bamboo a day. The panda centre in Chengdu also gives them very small quantities of meat for nutritional purposes. Although these pandas are omnivorous they can't increase their meat consumption due to their digestive system which can't easily digest the meat.

They look so innocent and cute though. And their walks 😍😍😍.

Northern Pintail

These beautiful creatures are some of the world's best high endurance athletes. Each year they journey all the way from the northern parts of the world to the warm tropics during winters and stay here. By Feb end they return back to their summer homes.

These are named Pintails because of their long slender pin like tail.

I really love this image as I believe this to be one of my personal best. Pintails have long been on my check list and capturing one illuminated by the soft golden evening light while he stretches its wings was a pure delight.

And the Heavens Opened

As I mentioned in my last post, I recently went camping, with the main goal of capturing some Star trails.

And here you are. This is my first star trail attempt. I quite like the result though I feel the composition could be a bit better.

Do let me know your thoughts.

Monogamy

The unique characteristic of Rudy Shelduck's is that these pair for life, and if one dies then the other never finds another mate. Quite a few number of oir avial friends show this kind of behaviour which I find simply fascinating.

Prayers in the Wind

Buddhist prayer flags always have a way providing that special spark to an image. I had this dream of mine to one day compose an image using these flags.

I took this image in Chelela pass, which is indeed the highest motorable road in Bhutan and is located between the towns of Paro and Haa.

While I was there trying out various compositions, it started to drizzle. Being at such high altitude, the drizzle didn't fall as water droplets, it turned to SNOW FLAKES! Even our driver was perplexed and he said we surely must be lucky to witness snowfall in the mid of April. In the picture you can see the drizzle approaching if you look closely slightly left of the centre. There you can see a white hazy mist kind of thing in the air.

Tell me down in the comments if you liked the image and have a good day.

Although the light was quite poor, the unique posture of the macaque and eye contact along with the dark background really livened this image up.

This is the Rinpung Dzong, in Paro, Bhutan. This is equivalent to our DC offices, from where the administration is run.

The location of this 15th century building is absolutely stunning. The Paro Chhu (river) with crystal clear water flows in front of it, while the snow-capped Himalayas is in its backdrop. Simply put, an image is not enough to justify its beauty. You have to experience it yourself.

This image is long exposure HDR of 3 images. I'll list down my settings for the properly exposed shot.
