While exploring some random streets in Tranquebar, I suddenly came across this happening outside a temple.

It’s part of the vibrant and deeply rooted Aadi Thiruvizha festival, celebrated across many parts of South India to honor village deities and seek blessings for prosperity, protection, and good rainfall. The festival brings the whole community together through traditional rituals, music, dance, and devotional gatherings, creating an atmosphere full of energy and devotion. The dancers perform to the hypnotic beats of the Urumi Melam, a powerful traditional drum ensemble known for its intense rhythmic sound.

Feeling so incredibly lucky that I randomly walked into such a beautiful piece of culture! ✨🥁
