Indian Weddings are very colorful and fun to shoot. You need to be ready to shoot anything that happens in front of you unexpectedly. This was a billavas wedding which we shot in Udupi. When the crowd wishing was going on suddenly the cousins of the bride played their favorite music and started dancing on the stage. The very next moment Bride joined the party and danced beautifully. As candid photographers, we crave for such moments. Love the spirit of the bride and joy on everyone's face in the frame.

Indian Traditional Wedding is one of the most festive weddings across the world. It is also one of the longest because of the different ceremonies, rituals, and customs involved. Like any ancient culture, these ceremonies and rituals have religious significance with Kanyadaan being the most religious and the most emotional ritual.

Kanyadaan is one of the most sacred wedding rituals that binds two people into one. A sacred tradition that is carried forward by the father of the bride, a tradition that in its entirety is a beautiful amalgamation of bittersweet emotions, wherein the father of the bride gives away her hand to the groom-to-be.

Hindu Weddings in South India have many fun games as part of the weddings where women from the bride and groom's families compete with each other. This is one such game where the groom drops a ring on the chaape (mat) and whichever side manages to get it is the winner. In this case, the groom's side won 😊 I love shooting such scenes as everyone around have beautiful smiles in their face.

"Kanyadaan" ritual holds particular significance in Hindu weddings, the bride is handed over to the groom by the bride's father, trusting his daughter to him to love and care for, for the rest of their lives. Traditionally, the bride is seated on her father’s lap during the kanyadaan, other rituals are performed and the groom ties the thali on to the bride's neck.

Maalai maatral or garland exchange is an important ritual in any Hindu wedding. In Tamil weddings, garlands are exchanged three times to signify the beginning of their holy union. Here the bride and the groom are lifted by their close relatives and brothers to add in some fun element to the wedding 🙂There is a belief that the one who gives in first and garlands the other will always listen to the other throughout their married life.
