Nilgiri tahr In Tamil it is called "varaiaadu"
Its a stocky goat with short, coarse fur and a bristly mane. Males are larger than females and of darker color when mature. Both have curved horns, reaching up to 40Cms for males and 30Cms for females. Adult males weigh 80 to 100Kgs and stand about 100Cms tall at the shoulder. Adult males develop a light grey area on their backs and are thus called "saddlebacks".

As few as 100 Nilgiri tahrs were left in the wild by the early 20th century.

This was shot in the year May 2013.

This moon moth ranges in Sumatra, Java, the Philippines, and the surrounding region in Southeast Asia and South Asia including a population in the Western Ghats. This species covers a diverse set of biomes, from tropical rainforests to evergreen forests.
