I had the pleasure of documenting part of Hamraborg Festival 2026, a week-long celebration of contemporary art taking place across Hamraborg in Kópavogur.

What makes this festival special is the way it brings art into everyday life. Performances, installations, workshops and concerts appear in cultural institutions, shops, streets and unexpected corners of the neighbourhood. You can come looking for art, but you can also encounter it while going about your day.

It creates a space where different generations meet through the language of art. Children, adults, artists, neighbours and visitors are invited to be curious, explore emotions, enter worlds of imagination and creative thinking, and see familiar things from completely different perspectives.

I particularly value art that opens the mind rather than providing ready-made answers, and Hamraborg Festival creates room for exactly that. The performances I photographed explored ritual and transformation, personal space, sound, movement, play, the body and our relationship with the world around us.

Photographing them was not only about documenting what happened. I was interested in how these moments looked and felt from where I stood: gestures, bodies, details, strange encounters, tension, humour, and the relationship between performers, audiences and the spaces around them.

These photographs are fragments of the festival and my own visual interpretation

I’m so happy and excited! This summer my photography book will be published. For the past few months, once again I’ve been visiting places connected to elves and other Icelandic beings, listening to nature, meeting amazing people, writing down fascinating stories shared with me.
It’s so hard to finish this project because there are always more things to say, more places to visit and more pictures to take. I was documenting Icelandic beauty for over 10 years. This book is my love letter to the Icelandic nature. 🐧😍❄️⛰️🪨🌪️🦭🐋🌋
There is no other place like this, and protection of the land is in our hands, maybe with some help from
