First image from the recent photography workshop I guided in Iceland this February ❄️

Planning and conducting the tour in this specific time proved to be extremely successful again and again. Perhaps more than anything, was the dramatic soft light that accompanied us during all hours of the day and created amazing photographic opportunities.

When you don’t want to share your sweets 🌺🐥

Hummingbirds in dispute for nectar can be very aggressive! They sometimes even hit each other with their beak.

The African wild dogs 🐕 are extraordinary animals.

They live in packs and the relationships between them are the key to their survival. As a relatively small predators they cannot subdue prey on their own like lions or hyenas. There for their hunt depends on group efforts. Their hunting strategy is to chase their prey as a group. They are able to do it thanks to long range running abilities and strong cooperation that eventually ware their prey down to exhaustion when they can finish it. Due to loss of habitat and disease vulnerability these magnificent creatures are endangered all over Africa.

Namibia - a wide expanse of varied landscapes 🏜🏕🌄

Among them are huge and impressive desert rivers. Though might seem barren, these rivers support a variety of wildlife including elephants, giraffes, lions, gazelles and more. Desert rivers are "dry" most of the year, flood water run through them only after substantial rain down pore which they drain. But even though they seem dry, water exist beneath the ground and support vegetation which in turn supports the wildlife.

Places like these might seem void of life and less important to conserve, but when you truly understand their ecosystems and importance to local wildlife and even larger scale connection with other habitats, you realize how important they are, maybe no less important than rain forests.

Walrus are one the largest and most impressive animals of the Arctic region 🗻❄️

They can weigh up to 2000 kilograms and mostly feed on bivalve mollusks. After a good meal (which can sometimes last several days of foraging) they may rest in order to digest for several days on ice shelves or land.

In recent years due to climate change and loss of sea ice, walrus have been seen gathering in huge numbers on rocky Island in the arctic. With less ice to be found, these islands are their only place to rest. As more and more walrus arrive, the density can become unbearable and they climb cliffs to avoid it, sometimes plunging to their death trying to get back down to the sea.

Babakoto 🐒

Though they may resemble monkeys, Lemurs are a different kind of primates endemic only to the island of Madagascar. They are magnificent creatures and most of them are endangered due to habitat loss and deforestation 🌿🌱

The Indri is one of the biggest lemurs (locally known was "Babakoto") and they are known for their loud and unique songs that echo through the forest. It was a true privilege observing them in their natural habitat and listen to they heavenly sound.

I'll soon be heading to the arctic regions again! ❄️☃️

This time I'll be guiding a group to the Svalbard archipelago in search of Polar bears, whales, glaciers and the arctic nature 🐳🗻

Each of my travels makes me think about the delicate status of our natural world and its rapid deterioration. How more can our planet take before we reach the point of no return and regret for the loss of of our natural treasures that provide us?

How many do you see? 🦒🦒🦒🦒🦒🦒🦒

One of the most incredible Giraffe sightings I had while guiding a safari tour in Tanzania. We spotted his huge herd in the south part of the Serengeti, there were more than 60 giraffes all together!!!
