Iceland finally feels like home🏠🤍
I’ve been struggling with being homesick since 2020, kind of from day 1 here and I was finding so many things that were wrong with Iceland and would never be okay for me. Like yesterday out of nowhere while waiting for my plane Lisbon-Keflavik, I realised I’m excited to go back. To go home. In a queue I heard Icelandic people discussing their travel experience, grocery plans and events for upcoming weeks and my heart was so warm. Hearing Icelandic made me feel so good which was weird haha like it was something that I missed so much the whole week of my vacation abroad.
And actually this summer was a total dream! Which I would not believe a couple years ago because it was mostly in Iceland and what feels crazy, I didn’t want to be anywhere else. I was so busy working and had insane amount of weddings, family shoots, proposals and events. Which by the way I’m deeply thankful for!! Earlier when I was looking at photographers not posting anything I couldn’t understand them, it takes so little time to make a post but this summer I realised it can be overwhelming. Amount of shoots, deadlines, thousands of photos, upcoming ones and everything spiralling. Among all these projects we did the most we could as a family, we were camping a lot, doing hikes, road trips, exploring Iceland, going to places I’ve never been before. Life felt so “right” like I’m finally where I’m supposed to be, doing the right things, being the right person. I’m finding my inner peace after so many years, doing therapy and healing my childhood.
We did this shoot just the 3 of us - my camera, tripod, timer and magical sunny day. I want us to be like this - be together, have fun, connect and put family in priority (something we both have to learn)
I want to remember every moment of Sonja being small because somehow she doesn’t ask us and becomes a new grown up human again and again. I love us💖
