Summer in Minnesota just feels different. Wedding season is in full swing, golden hour is lasting until nine at night, and somehow I’m also finding time for ice cream dates with my husband, evening swims in the Mississippi, and chasing sunsets that have absolutely no business being that pretty.

This is my favorite time of year to be alive and to have a camera in my hand.

Today is Evan and Skylar's wedding day and I am so excited.

From the moment I met them I could tell their day was going to feel exactly like they do. Easy, warm, and genuinely happy to just be together.

I cannot wait to see how today unfolds. Congratulations you two, it's finally here.

I’m a Virgo who loves a good checklist, gets way too excited about a pretty floral arrangement, and says “omg I’m dead this is so pretty” out loud on the job more than I’d like to admit.

I’m also someone who got really tired of feeling like I had to show up a certain way online to be taken seriously as a photographer. So I stopped doing that.

What you see here is just me. The work I’m proud of, the moments that got me in my feels, and occasionally my dog on a trail somewhere in Minnesota.

Anabelle came to me needing her very first professional headshots. About to graduate college, start job hunting, and ready to walk into a whole new version of her life.

She was a little apprehensive at first, which is so normal. But by the end we were laughing and having the best time, and when she saw her photos she loved them. I helped her feel at ease and I think about that a lot. Because that's really the whole job. Great photos are the result but feeling confident is the point.

After I sent a recent bride her gallery, she forwarded the link to her bridesmaid group chat. I wasn't expecting to hear back but she screenshotted the whole thing and sent it to me anyway. 🫶

One bridesmaid said there wasn't a bad photo in the entire gallery. Another said how the bride and groom looked so relaxed, and themselves. And then someone just said "Chelsea. Freaking. Crushed."

I was in my car reading these and genuinely could not stop smiling. That's the thing I'm always going for. Photos that are unmistakably YOU.

I grew up watching Father of the Bride on repeat, genuinely believing that wedding days were the most sacred kind of ordinary magic. I still believe that. I just get to show up for it now, which honestly still gets me every single time.

Some things got lost along my path, but I’m picking them back up now. No big announcement, just….showing up as myself. If that inspires you to do the same, even better. We don’t have to apologize for taking up space.
