From Heataly, 2025.
The project is an ongoing visual investigation into how climate change is reshaping not only the Italian landscape, but also the symbolic and cultural identity tied to it.
As floods grow more intense, snow becomes artificial and mountains turn into open-air party venues, Heataly explores how these transformations reflect and influence deeper societal shifts.
In picture: A field on fire during the summer. Italy is increasingly split in two by the effects of climate change. While the North is facing a surge in extreme rainfall and flooding, the South is grappling with intensifying heatwaves, prolonged droughts, and a sharp rise in wildfires.
According to a report by ISPRA (Italian Institute
for Environmental Protection and Research), over 70% of summer wildfires occurred in southern regions, a number that has grown steadily over the past decade.
