🇮🇹: Il lupo è visto da molti come simbolo di forza, intelligenza e lealtà gerarchica. Tuttavia non sempre ci si sofferma a ragionare su quanto sia delicato l’equilibrio della vita di un predatore. Mentre gli animali erbivori e onnivori possono sopravvivere più facilmente ad un infortunio non letale, un predatore sarà significativamente più in difficoltà nel cacciare e procurarsi il cibo. Il lupo, dalla sua, ha la fortuna di poter contare su un’alimentazione molto varia e sull’aiuto, quando presente, dei compagni di branco. Sono riportati infatti casi di lupi segnati da qualche handicap (cecità, disfunzioni articolari, ecc.) che sono riusciti a sopravvivere alla loro condizione grazie all’aiuto del branco. Lupi solitari impossibilitati alla caccia sono invece spronati ad avvicinarsi a centri abitati o discariche.
Nel video vedete due individui che fino a poco più di un mese fa tutti i lupi ripresi erano in splendida forma, mentre ora uno dei due risulta zoppo. Sperando che sia solo un piccolo trauma cercheremo di seguire i loro movimenti per monitorare lo svolgimento di questa vicenda.
🇬🇧: The wolf is seen by many as a symbol of strength, intelligence and hierarchical loyalty.
However is not too often that we stop and think about how delicate the equilibrium of a predator life truly is. While herbivores and omnivores can survive with more ease a non lethal injury, a predator will be significantly impaired in hunting and get hold of food.
The wolf has the fortune of having various food habits and, when lucky, a pack to rely on. Several cases of impaired wolves (blinded, with articular dysfunctions and so on) that managed to survive their condition thanks to the help of the pack were reported.
Lone wolves that can’t hunt are more prone to lurk in dumpsters or suburban areas looking for food...
In the video you’ll see a couple of individuals that until last month were in great health conditions, but now one of them is limping on its back leg.
Hoping that it is just a small trauma we’ll try to keep an eye on their movement to overlook the outcome of this situation.
