Tonight is the night !

After waiting for 3 days in Belem, I will finally start the boat trip through the Amazon river !

This epic journey of almost 1600 km on a river ferry to Manaus (the capital of the Amazon state) will take five and a half days.

I was planning to break the trip into 2 legs, stopping in Santarem and visiting the river beaches of Alter do Chao, but next weekend there will be one of the biggest religious gatherings in the world, where +2 million people will be in Belem for the Cirio of Nazareth, so the usual boats going up the amazon were not available, and now I don't have enough time to make the stop.

I have a feeling that this trip will be one of my best travel experiences so far, let's hope I'm not mistaken !

I wasn't feeling very inspired to take pictures after leaving Salvador. It will be hard to top the photos I took in that city, but here are some shots of the places I have been to since : Recife, Porto de Galinhas, Macareipe and Natal. There are no pictures of Olinda but it's worth a quick visit if you're ever in Recife.
