IT: Ogni tanto sento un "fotografo" dire cose come "Io non guardo gli altri fotografi, per non farmi influenzare" o "Io non studio gli altri fotografi, perché non ho bisogno di copiare". Ecco, nella fotografia ci sono questi improbabili personaggi e poi ci sono i Maestri, quelli che fanno la storia, anche perché la studiano.
Io non so se Peter Lindberg abbia ripreso la celebre foto di Walker Evans, come Paul Strand, o se da quest'ultimo, ma so che alcune delle migliori fotografie nascono non copiando, ma omaggiando e rielaborando, cosa, ovviamente, impossibile, se non si studia!

Every now and then, I hear a "photographer" say things like, "I don't look at other photographers so I won't be influenced," or "I don't study other photographers because I don't need to copy anyone." Well, photography has these unlikely characters, and then there are the Masters, the ones who make history, precisely because they study it.
I do not know whether Peter Lindberg drew upon Walker Evans’s famous photograph, as Paul Strand did, or upon Strand’s own work; what I do know is that some of the best photographs are born not of copying, but of paying homage and reinterpreting, something that is, of course, impossible without study!
