🌩️ Storm Chasing in Northern Italy – An Unforgettable Day 🌩️
Last Wednesday, June 10th, delivered one of the most rewarding storm chases of the season across northeastern Italy.
During the afternoon, I intercepted a powerful supercell thunderstorm over the Upper Treviso area, displaying an impressive rotating structure, a dramatic wall cloud, and intense precipitation cores. The storm later produced large hail, damaging wind gusts, localized flooding, and significant impacts to agriculture and infrastructure across several areas.
As the day progressed, the atmosphere continued to deliver. Near sunset, a second photogenic supercell emerged against a spectacular golden sky, creating an incredible contrast between the warm evening light and the dark, rotating storm base.
To conclude the chase, a stunning roll cloud developed along the storm’s outflow boundary, advancing across the landscape like a giant atmospheric wave and marking the arrival of cooler air behind the storm.
Three remarkable storm structures in a single day: a classic supercell, a sunset supercell, and a dramatic roll cloud. Days like these are a reminder of both the beauty and the power of the atmosphere.
