Spring carries with it a quiet rebirth, and green is its first visual language. In photography, this colour, also evident in wild garlic carpeting the forest floor with its intense, untamed green, is not just a natural backdrop: it is atmosphere, a strong fragrance, and promise. That is why green works so well in spring photography: it instantly conveys naturalness, balance, and authenticity. It is a colour that does not shout, yet lingers.....

The famous Trepponti in Comacchio is far more than a bridge, it’s a masterpiece of 17th-century geometry and a stage where light and reflection constantly reshape the scene. Built around 1638 at the request of Cardinal Giovan Battista Pallotta, which is why it is also known as Ponte Pallotta, the structure became the architectural heart of the city, marking the point where five navigable canals meet.
I positioned myself at the base of one of the canals to capture the perfect symmetry of the brick arches mirrored in the still water, creating an almost complete “double-circle” effect. The warm tones of the Istrian stone and the deep red bricks of Comacchio reacted beautifully to the sunlight, while the small green boat anchored nearby provided the perfect focal point for the composition.

As a landscape photographer, you’re drawn to trabocchi not just for their history, but for their character. Their geometric lines contrast beautifully with the softness of waves and sky, creating compositions that feel both structured and poetic. At sunrise or sunset, when the light turns golden and the sea reflects shifting colours, these silhouettes become even more striking, timeless subjects that reward careful framing and patience. Photographing them isn’t just about capturing a scene; it’s about preserving a dialogue between past and present, where your eye translates centuries of human ingenuity into a single, evocative image.

Today, the Saline di Comacchio are more than history, they’re pure visual poetry. Shallow waters mirror the sky, turning every sunrise and sunset into a canvas of pink, gold, and blue.
As a landscape photographer, together with my friends Sara and Fabiana (both excellent photographers) we stepped into a quiet dialogue between land, water, and light. Cameras in hand, we were not just capturing a scene but translating centuries of human craft and natural rhythm into something timeless.
Here, reflections slowed us down. Silence sharpened our eyes, and every subtle shift of color became a moment worth chasing.
