Cada año, Chichihualco se llena de vida, tradición, color y orgullo con el Festival de los Tlacololeros. El primer día de la festividad, niños y jóvenes —desde preescolar hasta preparatoria— bailan por las calles luciendo sus trajes tradicionales. Es maravilloso ver cómo el amor por estas costumbres se transmite de una generación a otra, asegurando que perduren a través del tiempo.

Every year, Chichihualco comes alive with tradition, color, and pride for the Festival de los Tlacololeros. The first day of the festival sees children, from preschool to high school, dancing through the streets in their traditional attire. It is wonderful how the love for these customs is passed from one generation to the next, ensuring they endure through the ages.

With its dramatic cliffs, crisp white architecture, and the deep blue sea, Santorini has a timeless beauty defined by perfect sunrises, endless sunsets, and the quiet company of its local cats. I discovered this magic during my very first trip to Europe while living in Canada, and I was so utterly captivated by the island's purity that it became an instant core memory, complete with a permanent soundtrack playing in my head. That magic eventually called me back years later—because some destinations never truly leave you.

Con sus acantilados dramáticos, su arquitectura de un blanco impecable y el azul profundo del mar, Santorini posee una belleza atemporal definida por amaneceres perfectos, atardeceres infinitos y la tranquila compañía de sus gatos locales. Descubrí esta magia durante mi primer viaje a Europa cuando vivía en Canadá, y me cautivó tanto la pureza de la isla que se convirtió de inmediato en un recuerdo imborrable, con su propia banda sonora sonando permanentemente en mi cabeza. Esa magia me volvió a llamar años más tarde, porque hay destinos que nunca te dejan del todo.

As the final footsteps of the procession fade, the night shatters into pure, chaotic energy as the toritos de fuego take over a field outside the town of Acatlán. You can’t help but marvel at the sheer adrenaline of the moment—spark-showering bulls charging through the field as the towering castillos de fuego erupt overhead in a brilliant kaleidoscope of light. It’s a breathtaking finale for San Isidro Labrador, where faith and masked dances melt into a celebration of fire and tradition.

Mientras los últimos pasos de la procesión se desvanecen, la noche estalla con una energía pura y caótica cuando los toritos de fuego atraviezan un campo a las afueras del pueblo de Acatlán. Es imposible no maravillarse ante la adrenalina del momento: toros que lanzan chispas arremeten por el campo mientras los imponentes castillos de fuego estallan en lo alto en un caleidoscopio de luz. Es un final impresionante para San Isidro Labrador, donde la fe y las danzas de máscaras se funden en una celebración del fuego y la tradición.

Standing on top of the "Singing Sands" at sunset was one of those moments that makes you feel tiny in the best way possible. The Khongoryn Els dunes in the Gobi Desert stretch forever, and watching the light hit these ridges felt like looking at another planet. It’s a brutal climb to the top, but when the wind starts "singing" and the sand turns this deep gold, you forget all about the struggle.

Estar en la cima de las "Arenas Cantoras" al atardecer fue uno de esos momentos que te hacen sentir diminuto, en el mejor sentido de la palabra. Las dunas de Khongoryn Els, en el desierto de Gobi, se extienden hasta el infinito, y ver cómo la luz incidía sobre ellas era como contemplar otro planeta. La subida a la cima es extenuante, pero cuando el viento empieza a "cantar" y la arena adquiere ese tono dorado intenso, te olvidas por completo del esfuerzo.

Heading back to Mexico today, and I couldn't be happier. It’s easily one of my favorite places on the planet—the history is unreal, the culture is everywhere, and the people are just the best including some of my dearest friends who I consider as family.
Being Peruvian, there’s this weirdly comfortable, "vaguely familiar" vibe to everything here. It feels like home, but honestly, a little easier to deal with and navigate. See you soon, México!

Hoy regreso a México y no podría estar más feliz. Es sin duda uno de mis lugares favoritos del planeta: su historia es increíble, su cultura está presente en cada rincón y su gente es maravillosa, incluyendo a algunos de mis amigos más queridos, a quienes considero familia. Siendo peruano, todo aquí tiene un aire extrañamente familiar. Me siento como en casa, pero, sinceramente, es un poco más fácil de vivir y de recorrer. ¡Nos vemos pronto, México!

Constantine defies gravity, perched precariously atop dramatic limestone cliffs and severed from the world by the sheer drop of the Rhumel Gorge. Standing on one of its iconic suspension bridges feels like looking at a secret "Citadel in the Sky." The beauty here is raw and layered, where the grand, crumbling facades of French colonial architecture cling to the cliffside. There is a haunting, cinematic quality to its narrow streets and vertigo-inducing views—a masterpiece of geography and history that the rest of the world has somehow managed to overlook.

Constantine desafía la gravedad, encaramada precariamente sobre espectaculares acantilados de piedra caliza y aislada del mundo por el vertiginoso desfiladero del Rhumel. Estar en uno de sus emblemáticos puentes colgantes es como contemplar una "ciudadela en el cielo" secreta. La belleza aquí es cruda y compleja, donde las grandiosas fachadas desmoronadas de la arquitectura colonial francesa se aferran al acantilado. Sus estrechas calles y vistas vertiginosas tienen una cualidad inquietante y cinematográfica: una obra maestra de geografía e historia que el resto del mundo, de alguna manera, ha pasado por alto.

Djemila is a mountain-cradled Roman secret, far from the typical tourism path and standing in haunting silence against the Algerian sky. My attempt to stay local turned into a bureaucratic adventure when the police, citing my safety as a foreigner, barred me from the only hotels in town. I spent the next several hours in a nearby café under a watchful es**rt, passing the time with endless glasses of syrupy mint tea and honey-drenched pastries. By the time the police finally settled me into a local family’s spare room, their incredible hospitality was no match for my vibrating nerves. I spent the night wide awake in the stillness of the mountains, completely undone by a legendary Berber sugar rush.

Djemila es un secreto romano perdido en las montañas, lejos de las rutas turísticas y que se alza en un silencio sobrecogedor contra el cielo argelino. Mi intento de alojarme allí se convirtió en una aventura burocrática cuando la policía, alegando mi seguridad como extranjero, me prohibió la entrada a los únicos hoteles del pueblo. Pasé las siguientes horas en un café cercano, bajo la atenta vigilancia de unos policias, matando el tiempo con interminables vasos de té de menta almibarado y pasteles bañados en miel. Para cuando la policía finalmente me acomodó en la habitación de invitados de una familia local, su increíble hospitalidad no pudo con mis nervios a flor de piel. Pasé la noche en vela en la quietud de las montañas, completamente aturdido por un legendario subidón de azúcar bereber.

8 years ago, I spent three weeks in Algeria—less than two hours from Toulouse, yet a world apart. Often overlooked due to visa hurdles and memories of the Algerian Civil War, I found a stunning, untouristed country with incredibly warm, welcoming people. I stayed with locals who became lifelong friends, hitchhiked, and explored ancient ruins and dramatic cities. So much to see—I can’t recommend it enough.

Hace ocho años pasé tres semanas en Argelia, a menos de dos horas de Toulouse, pero un mundo aparte. A menudo ignorada por las dificultades para obtener un visado y los recuerdos de la Guerra Civil Argelina, descubrí un país impresionante, poco frecuentado por turistas, con gente increíblemente cálida y acogedora. Me alojé con lugareños que se convirtieron en amigos para toda la vida, viajé a dedo y exploré ruinas antiguas y ciudades espectaculares. Hay muchísimo que ver; lo recomiendo encarecidamente.
