Singapore has always seemed like an illusion of a country. While some might argue that the blend of so many diverse and ancient cultures gives Singapore a distinct "lack of culture", I argue that it's cultivated only the very best elements of each of its principal cultures into the perfect amalgamation of celebrating the old while driving forward the future. Its blend of history, art, cuisine, community makes it one of the most fascinating places to explore.

It may be hot this Auguest, but seeing the smiles of each kid as they walk away with a new backpack filled with brand new sets of school supplies, warms your heart up even more. I'm so blessed to bear witness to the love and kindness of my hometown, Sonoma County as it continues to bring so much hope to people's lives, especially after a rather difficult year.

Thank you to the Redwood Gospel Mission for putting together this amazing event each and every year.

I had the opportunity to travel to Siberia and Russia to explore a largely perplexing region of the world. What is ordinarily associated with the cold isolation turned out to be an incredible magical Winter Wonderland filled with a vibrant energy, celebration of globalized culture, and mind-boggling mysteries. Here is just a peak at everything this country holds.

After nearly a decade coming into the kitchen, strapping on an apron, and picking up a tray of freshly baked pumpkin pie, no other event in Sonoma County brings as much joy to my heart as the Redwood Gospel Mission's Thanksgiving Banquet. This event has always held so much meaning for me: being able to sit down with a diverse group of individuals, share a meal, and listen to each other's stories. Even when times were tough for some individuals, to hear the words, "I feel blessed every day miss. Today's just an extraordinary gift," never failed to put a smile on my face.

This year especially, with the Tubbs fire that not only ravaged my home but my entire community, the banquet offered a moment of peace and reflection on all the things I have to be grateful for: the clothes on my back, an amazing education, friends who call in to make sure I'm ok, strangers to share a laugh with, and most importantly, my family who I can still have the privilege of saying I love you to.

So Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in my life and thank you for being the incredible individuals that you are.

Taking a moment to share stories and celebrate life with Sonoma County's homeless was a blessing. There's nothing like the comfort of food, friendly faces, and faith that everything will be all right. Grateful that I live in a community that provides not only help but compassion. Thank you to the Redwood Gospel Mission for inviting me to capture some of these incredible faces.
