Jy is going UP

Our “bunso” is now a “chūgakōsei.”
Separated from her elementary school friends.
She was a bit nervous because she didn’t know anyone at her new school.
But by the first day, she was already out and about, making new friends.

Goodbye, elementary days.
And for us? It’s goodbye, hatafuri.

There are many roles parents play in Japan. One of them and probably the easiest, I would say is flag waving. You’re assigned a spot along the kids’ route to school, helping them cross the streets and generally keeping them safe.

We’re lucky to have been part of it.
Hatafuri mission accomplished!

Jy is going Up

The background song on Instagram is called “Puzzle” by Shimizu S***a. It was very memorable for their batch because they sang and performed it at their sports festival, and it was also played during the recessional at graduation.

Too bad we couldn’t get a recording.

But Jyl sang the first part. She’s a shy girl, so I was really surprised that she volunteered to sing!
