Let me tell you this completely true story of how -- no matter your background or culture -- people can connect over something shared in common, like photography~ :)

On Sunday 16-Nov, I woke up before sunrise and went to the bamboo forest in Arashiyama, Kyoto to take photographs before the flood of weekend crowds arrived and spoilt the tranquility of the scene.

Another local photog had the same idea, and had set up his tripod at one of the forest's best photo spots. He politely let me use the same place to take my own photos.

We chatted a bit, and even though it was a bit difficult due to my limited Japanese and his Kansai accent, we managed to talk photography and he even let me copy his camera settings (thank goodness both of us were Canon users, haha~! XD).

But what touched me the most was when he wordlessly slipped away to fetch a spare tripod from his car for me to borrow~ >w

The difference between an English Breakfast and Japanese Breakfast~ :)

The first photograph was taken at Fraser's Hill, Malaysia in 2013, and the photograph below it was taken at Ryotei Rangetsu, Kyoto, Japan in 2014.

Both show different styles, settings and menus for different types of breakfasts.
