âIt rained all day in Kyoto today, and it reminded me of another rainy day in late spring.
She was visiting Kyoto from the Philippines for the second time. Her first trip was with her family, but this time she was traveling on her own. Her sister found me on Instagram, and thatâs how we met for a photo shoot to celebrate her upcoming birthday in late May.
Iâve been a photographer in Japan for almost eight years. Over the past few years, more and more people from around the world have found me through social media. Of all the photographers out there, somehow you found me and chose me. Iâm always grateful for that.
We talked it over and decided to go ahead with the shoot despite the rain. We walked through Kyoto under our umbrellas, taking photos and chatting about travel and little stories about the city along the way.
At the end of the shoot, I took a selfie with her, like I usually do with my clients. She also gave me a little Jeepney pouch as a souvenir. I saved our photo for the last slide.
Hopefully weâll meet again someday. And Iâm looking forward to all the people Iâll get to meet in the future.
