The Roots were absolutely incredible last night🔥
90 minutes packed with nonstop live music—there was barely a moment to catch my breath. I could feel the entire crowd becoming one, completely captivated by their performance.

Hearing some of their older songs even brought me close to tears 🥹 This is what real live music is all about. Thank you for letting us truly feel the music🙏✨

昨日のThe Rootsのライブ、本当に素晴らしかった🔥
息つく暇もないほど、ライブミュージックがぎっしり詰まった90分。会場中が一つになって、彼らの演奏に魅了されているのが伝わってきた。昔の曲を聴いて、思わず涙が出そうになった瞬間もあった🥺

これぞ、リアルなライブミュージックの醍醐味。音楽を全身で体感させてくれて、本当にありがとう🙏

Got Sole Japan の模様をGettyで撮影してきました！📸

会場には、スニーカーやコレクティブルカード、ヴィンテージウェアなどのベンダーがずらり。レアなアイテムを求めて集まった人たちで賑わっていました。

Got Soleは2013年、DiModica兄弟がボストンの古い教会で、小さなローカルのスニーカーイベントとしてスタートしたそう。

彼らがまだティーンエイジャーだった頃、自宅が火事になり、トレーラーハウスで生活することに。そんな状況の中でも「いつか世界最高のスニーカーイベントを作る」という夢を持ち続け、始めたのがGot Soleだったそうです。

今ではアメリカ各地で大きな盛り上がりを見せるイベントになり、こうして日本でも開催されているってすごいですね！

Got Sole TokyoにもFat JoeとかJim Jonesが来てたら、個人的にはめちゃくちゃ上がったけど😂

会場で見つけた、おしゃれな来場者のスナップも撮ってきたのでぜひ！スナップ久々だけど、やっぱり楽しい🔥

The venue was packed with vendors selling sneakers, collectible cards, vintage clothing, and more, along with people hunting for rare finds.

Got Sole started back in 2013, when the DiModica brothers organized a small local sneaker event in an old church in Boston.

When they were still teenagers, their family home burned down and they ended up living in a trailer. Even through that difficult time, they held onto their dream of one day creating the best sneaker event in the world and that dream eventually became Got Sole.

It’s amazing to see how much the event has grown in the U.S., and now to see it happening here in Japan too!

Although, personally, I would’ve been REALLY hyped if Fat Joe or Jim Jones had shown up at Got Sole Tokyo 😂

I also got to shoot some street-style portraits of some of the stylish people I spotted at the event, so check them out!

It’s been a while since I’ve shot this kind of street style, but I forgot how much fun it is 📸

Happy B’day Hip Hop 🎂🎤

53 years and still evolving, taking on different styles and spreading around the world.

I’m grateful that Hip Hop became such an important part of my life, and even more grateful for all the opportunities I’ve had to photograph so many special moments along the way.

Pictured here is DJ Kool Herc, known as the “Father of Hip Hop.”Much love, gratitude, and respect to him and everyone who built this culture from the ground up and made it what it is today🙏

誕生から53年。さまざまなスタイルへと進化しながら、世界中に広がり続けてきた。この素晴らしいカルチャーに出会えたこと、そしてその中で、たくさんの貴重な瞬間を写真に収める機会をもらえたことに、改めて感謝🙏

写真は、“ヒップホップの父”と呼ばれるDJ Kool Herc。
彼をはじめ、何もなかったところから新しいカルチャーを生み出し、築き上げてきたすべての人たちにも、改めて感謝とリスペクト🙏

アンジーのNewアー写を撮影させていただきました！

気づけばアンジーとは、かれこれ13年。これまで何度か撮影してきたので、今回を機にちょっと振り返ってみました。写真は最新→昔の順です。

一番最初に会ったのは、彼女がボーカルを務めていたグループ、Carnival Flavorの「Jump Up」のMV撮影のときだったな。私にとって初めて撮影したMVでもあり、真夏の暑い逗子のビーチで撮ったのが懐かしい🥰

ちなみにCarnival Flavorは、カリブ海の音楽ソカをベースに活動していたグループで、当時はソカ発祥の地・トリニダード・トバゴやグレナダなどでも活動していました。

そしてなんと、「Jump Up」のMVが「International SOCA Awards」の日本部門で優勝し、私の名前入りのトロフィーをいただくという奇跡も‼️
8枚目がそのトロフィーの写真です。

アンジーが少しずつ大人になっていく姿を、その時々で写真に残せていることを、とてもありがたく感じます。そして、そのご縁を繋いでくれたまりちゃんにも感謝🙏

最後の写真は、当時生まれたばかりの子どもを抱っこしながら働くまりちゃん。今見ても本当に尊敬する姿です☺️

I recently had the pleasure of shooting Angie’s new artist photos!

It’s hard to believe, but I’ve known Angie for about 13 years now. We’ve worked together several times over the years, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to look back at some of our shoots. The photos go from newest to oldest.

The first time we met was on the set of “Jump Up,” a music video by Carnival Flavor, the group she was singing with at the time. It was also the very first music video I ever shot. I still remember filming it on a super hot summer day at the beach in Zushi.

Carnival Flavor was a group inspired by SOCA, and at the time they were also performing in places like Trinidad & Tobago　and Grenada.

And amazingly, the “Jump Up” music video won the Japan category at the International SOCA Awards, and I even received a trophy with my name on it! You can see it in the 8th photo.

I feel really grateful that I’ve been able to photograph Angie over the years and capture different stages of her life as she’s grown. And a big thank you to Mari-chan for bringing us together in the first place!

The last photo is Mari-chan working while holding her baby, who had just been born at the time. Looking back at it now, I still have so much respect for her☺️
