It’s incredible to see how different yet consistent the other cities in Japan are. Osaka was full of life, and our days were spent enjoying all it had to offer. We still feel like we didn’t even scratch the surface.

Throughout life, I’ve learned to tell the difference between being alone and feeling lonely. Surrounded by my kids, extended family, and friends, I rarely lacked company, yet I often wondered if I knew how to sit with just myself and my thoughts.

These moments remind me that solitude can be a gift. Making time to breathe, to listen, to simply be. Loneliness is an absence. Learning that difference has been one of my hardest, and most necessary lessons to embrace this stage of life.

I don’t want any grandkids yet, but I can now understand why grandparents embrace their grandchildren the way they do.

“Ichigo Ichie” in Japanese translates to “one time, one meeting” or “for this time only”. It emphasizes the concept of treasuring the unrepeatable nature of each encounter and moment in life, recognizing that a particular moment will never occur in exactly the same way again. 

This encounter reminded and myself to be fully present and appreciate the unique quality of each experience.

Weekend getaway with my love. Took in the beauty of San Francisco with views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Palace of Fine Arts. We took in the west coast ocean breeze, and some epic views. Can’t get enough of this city! More pics to come!
