The Hawks (tombi) of Minamiboso Japan are on my mind today. I find it fascinating to shoot these creatures as they patrol the skies largely along the coast, looking for prey. They are swift, forever in fierce engagement with their rivals of the skies, the crows, (karasu) They are good gliders and so I can practice my camera focusing skills, which worked rather well in these here presented. This was done in September during the heat of summer and they bear testament to that was you see, I suppose, they're in panting mode, mouths open. Also fascinating to me is the natural technology that we humans have well adopted to improve airworthy travel from these birds. Every feather has a function, the tucking of the feet, where the eyes are located, everything.
