SECOND CHANCE EDUCATION 🎓

Before becoming a member of SB19, Josh Cullen took an alternative path to complete his high school education.

Josh shared that his formal schooling lasted only until Grade 3. When he became older, he pursued the Alternative Learning System while simultaneously working and preparing for its assessment.

“I managed to work and review at the same time to pass ALS,” he wrote in 2020, describing the program as his key to obtaining a high school diploma.

Financial difficulties prevented Josh from continuing to college, but his learning journey and determination did not end there. He eventually became part of SB19, which debuted in 2018 and later brought Filipino pop music to the global stage.

The Department of Education describes ALS as a parallel learning system that gives out-of-school youth and adults flexible and equivalent pathways to complete basic education.

From interrupted formal schooling to earning his high school credentials and building a successful music career, Josh’s journey highlights how second-chance education can open another path forward.

There is no single route toward completing an education or pursuing a dream. 🎓🎤
