Refugee led organizations are setting the pace on humanitarian aid as seen this year and we couldn't be prouder. This is an eye opener for the rest of humanitarian organizations and the world to acknowledge and engage refugees as potential team players with solutions and not just receivers of aid!

These marks our last phase of Refugee youth response to covid19 kakuma project and we want to thank and appreciate each one of you for believing in us and for contributing towards well being of our community, we all out did ourselves and we couldn't be prouder. Keep that giving spirit and remember to always look out for your neighbor.

Leaders are the voice of the community and we believe in including them in our budgeting and planning for our next distribution of essential packages that is taking place this week. Thanks to everyone that contributed towards our GoFundMe campaign to help us provide more relief food packages to families that have been affected immensely by covid19 pandemic. We appreciate your efforts in helping the refugee community.

Because of you, we managed to distribute 115 food packages on our Second phase of the project which took place last week in kakuma refugee camp to 115 families who are in serious need of assistance. The package consisted of 2kgs of rice, beans , sugar, cooking oil, sanitizers/soaps and two masks in each package.

We also managed to make 700 masks, 100 bottles of soaps, 100 pieces of sanitizers. ( All the products were made by our fellow refugees in the camp)

We are hoping to get more funding so as to reach out to more people in the camp who still don't have access to essential protective gear and basic needs such as food.

Practice social distancing, wash your hands, use a mask when going out, sanitise, with all these practices you will be able to protect yourself and your loved ones.

A few days ago in partnership with other refugee led organizations such as , & GLAP Enterprise were able to distribute more than 215 pieces of masks and soaps/ Sanitizers to individuals that are more likely to get in contact with the virus due to the nature of their work, that included Refugee women who sell vegetables at the market, Motorcycle riders etc, as a response to to slow down and also prevent the spread of Covid-19 in this vulnerable refugee community.

Our second phase that will support 100 most vulnerable vulnerable people within our community is underway.
A heartfelt appreciation to everyone that contributed and using their voice to advocate for refugee inclusion, thank you ,.hachey family and everyone else that I have not mentioned you are all appreciated.

And to all other well wishers who want to stand with refugees in Kakuma, we are working on a M-changa and PayPal for contributions that will support our second and third phase, we will post it once everything is ready

Just like the rest of the world is scared, panicked about the pandemic, refugees are no exception, it might even be more difficult for them to understand the magnitude of the pandemic and what it means considering the amount of misleading information on covid 19 that's spreading inside the camps and limited resources that exist.
