Meet the Horn-eyed Ghost Crab (being wiped out by a wave) π¦π»π
β I've tried to photograph this species a few times now during my travels through the Indo-Pacific, but with little to no success... So when I came across this CHILL guy at a time when I didn't have my camera in hand, I *knew* I needed to make a speedy sprint to get it π€
These crabs have 360Β° vision (swipe to the end for a close-up of their eyeballs), they live in deep burrows, are nocturnal scavengers that feed on fish, insects, turtle hatchlings (π±) and other crabs... AND they can move at a speed of up to 2.1 meters per second π€―
Seriously cool creatures!!!
