My love letter to lighthouses around the globe.
Which lighthouse should I visit next?

For as long as I can remember I’ve been obsessed with lighthouses. There’s something about them that feels deeply familiar, standing quietly at the edge of the world, holding their light through the darkest nights. A light that keeps shining, no matter how wild the storm becomes.

Hello from Lucerne, one of my favourite cities to explore in Switzerland ✨🇨🇭🏔️

This time I arrived this winter, with snow covered peaks surrounding Lake Lucerne, everything feels a little more magical. What I love most is how seamlessly you can travel between the city, the lake, and the mountains. One moment you’re wandering through in the old town, the next you’re by the water, and then you’re looking up at these huge snowy peaks right above you.

Here are some of my favourite things to do on your next winter trip in the Lucerne region:

•🚞 Take the Luzern–Interlaken Express, one of Switzerland’s most scenic winter train journeys
•📍 Stop in Lungern for the dreamiest lake views and alpine photo moments
•🎭 Experience Lucerne Carnival — a vibrant mix of tradition, music, and celebration
•🚢 Cruise across Lake Lucerne in winter light, calm water, reflections of mountains, and villages tucked along the shoreline
•🏔️ Take the cablecar to Pilatus Kulm for wide, dramatic views over the entire region
•🏰 Wander the old town cobblestone streets, painted facades, and hidden cafés between bridges
•🏞️ Wander through Weggis: a calm lakeside escape with mountain views across Lake Lucerne
✨ Visit Mount Rigi Light Festival: glowing lights across the mountain at dusk
•🏡 Stay at Hotel Rössli Gourmet & Spa, right on the lake, perfect after long mountain days
•🍽️ Dinner at Equo 1706: slow dining with beautiful lake views, a seasonal menu, and the best bread I’ve ever eaten in my life
•🥾 Walk along Lucerne’s lakeside promenades, quiet paths, swans drifting, mountains layered in the distance
•🍷 End the day at HYG Restaurant & Bar: incredible food, shared plates, warm light, and winter calm by the water
• 🏨 Stay the night at Pilatus Kulm, the historic mountaintop hotel on Mount Pilatus, sleeping above the clouds with sunrise views over the entire Lucerne region

All made seamless with the Swiss Travel Pass, your all-in-one ticket for unlimited train, bus and boat travel throughout

A winter dream tucked high in the Swiss Alps…❄️⛷️🏔️🚡
My next stop on my winter trip was Wengen, a car-free mountain village surrounded by wooden chalets and the iconic Bernese Alps.

This is the perfect starting point for adventures to the Kleine Scheidegg and the Jungfraujoch.

Everything here is connected by rail and cableway, which is what makes exploring so unique in winter. From Wengen, the Wengernalp Railway links directly to Kleine Scheidegg and Grindelwald, forming part of the route up to Jungfraujoch, the highest railway station in Europe at 3,454 metres, carved through the Eiger mountain itself. Männlichen opens up wide alpine plateaus with panoramic views, while Lauterbrunnen below sits in a deep valley known for its 72 waterfalls, many frozen into ice in winter.

Travelling through it all by train feels like moving through layers of the Alps, from quiet villages to high glacier landscapes, all within a single journey.

Here are my favourite things to save for your next winter trip to Wengen and the Jungfrau Region:

•🏡 Stay at Grand Hotel Belvedere, waking to panoramic alpine views
•🚡 Take the cableway to Männlichen, rising above the valley
•🥾 Winter hike to Kleine Scheidegg, with the Eiger beside you
•🎿 Ski or pause for views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau
•🍽️ Lunch at Kleine Scheidegg, surrounded by snow covered peaks
•🚞 Train to Lauterbrunnen, arriving into the valley of waterfalls
•🍷 Dinner at Brasserie Belvedere, warm and inviting after a day in the snow
•❄️ Take the train journey to Jungfraujoch, home to the highest railway station in Europe
•🏔️ Explore Grindelwald, set beneath the Eiger’s north face
•⛸️ Slow moments in Wengen, from ice skating to quiet winter walks

A winter journey I’ve always dreamed of… ✨💭❄️🇨🇭 From St. Moritz → Zermatt on the world’s most iconic train journey through the Swiss Alps.

The Glacier Express, an incredible 8 hour journey winding through mountain passes, frozen lakes and Swiss villages. Crossing 291 bridges and passing through 91 tunnels, with the most impressive views of the Swiss Alps. A true bucket list experience, and even more unforgettable in winter.

A few key moments to add to your next winter trip in Zermatt:

• 🚂 Book the Glacier Express with the Swiss Travel Pass
• 🥾 Snowshoeing from Schwarzsee along the Matterhorn north face to Stafelalp
• 🍲 Lunch at Stafelalp, surrounded by snow-covered peaks
• 🧀 Cosy dinners at Schäferstube, traditional raclette & fondue by the fire
• 🏡 Stay at Hotel Daniela by The Sisters, Zermatt
• ❄️ Winter hiking from Stafelalp to Furi through quiet alpine landscapes
• 🍽️ Dining at OVIS Alpine Kitchen, refined flavours with a modern alpine touch
• 🏔️ Chez Vrony, Mountain restaurant with classic Alpine dishes and Matterhorn views

Have you heard of the Bernina Express before? 🚂❄️🇨🇭✨

I took the Bernina Express from St. Moritz to Tirano, and it honestly feels like you’re moving through a living postcard surrounded by frozen lakes, dramatic alpine valleys, and tiny snow-covered villages the entire way.

The UNESCO World Heritage Site and pristine Alpine landscapes make this journey truly one of a kind, a travel experience in a class of its own. From St. Moritz, the route takes you over 196 bridges and through 55 tunnels, past wild gorges, over the famous Landwasser Viaduct, up to the Bernina Pass, and all the way down to glaciers and finally palm trees in Tirano, Italy.

If you’re planning this for your next trip, a few things I’d genuinely recommend (especially in winter):
• 📍 Sit on the right side (St. Moritz → Tirano) for the most consistent views
• 🎟️ Book and reserve a window seat early, it sells out fast in peak season
• 🌄 Go for a morning departure for softer alpine light
• 🧣 Dress in layers, you’ll want to stay by the window the whole time
• 📌 Stop in Poschiavo if you can, it’s one of the highlights
• 🏔️ Add time around St. Moritz (my recommendation is to stay in Sils close by) and Bernina Pass before or after the ride for a deeper experience
• 🍝 You can plan to cross from Switzerland into Italy, stop for lunch, and be back all in the same day!
• ❄️ Hope for fresh snowfall = completely different level of magic

✨ Insider tip: Take the regional train (St. Moritz → Tirano) one way instead of the Bernina Express. It runs the exact same route, but you can open the windows and it completely changes the experience, letting you really feel the Alps as you pass through them.

This journey reminded me how rare, fragile, and extraordinarily special our natural world truly is…💛🥹🌏✨ The Subantarctic Islands lie at the edge of the Southern Ocean, hundreds of kilometres from human civilisation, and visited by only a handful of expedition ships and researchers each year.

Standing on the shores of these islands, I witnessed vast king penguin breeding colonies, entirely untouched by humans. Seals lounged across the rocky coastline while seabirds filled the skies.

Rare, magical scenes found nowhere else on Earth.

Destinations we were able to experience on this this epic journey:

🐦 The Snares
🌊 Auckland Islands
🍃 Campbell Island
🪨 Bounty Islands
🌋 Antipodes Islands
🐧 Macquarie Island

Life aboard Le Soléal with made it possible to step into this world responsibly. Zodiac landings, coastal cruising, and daily exploration allowed us to experience landscapes and wildlife few people ever see, while the ship offered calm, thoughtful comfort in one of the most remote regions on Earth.

An expedition of a lifetime to the Subantarctic Islands ✨🌏🐧🗺️🌊
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Crossing the wild Southern Ocean to some of the most remote islands on Earth. Fourteen days aboard Le Soléal with , this part of the world is so isolated that only a handful of expedition ships reach them each year. Weather shifts by the hour, the seas are powerful, and the landscapes are completely wild.

These islands may appear as tiny specks on the map, but in reality they are vast, dramatic, and shaped by millions of years of isolation. Towering cliffs rise straight from the ocean, winds sweep across open grasslands, while penguins, seals, and seabirds move freely across beaches, hillsides, and rocky shores, thriving in ecosystems that feel almost untouched by time.

Nearly a third of the world’s penguin species live here and 10 of the 22 albatross species depend on these islands for breeding and survival.

Here are some of the most remote and untamed islands on Earth I had the chance to visit on this adventure:

🐦 The Snares — pristine, fully protected, and home to rare endemic land birds found nowhere else on Earth
🌊 Auckland Islands — the largest Subantarctic group, with dramatic landscapes and major wildlife breeding grounds
🍃 Campbell Island — rich in birdlife, including the Yellow-eyed Penguin, the rarest penguin in the world
🪨 Bounty & Antipodes Islands — remote rocky outposts that serve as vital seabird breeding sites
🐧 Macquarie Island — Australia’s only Subantarctic island and a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its wild ecosystems and king penguins

Life aboard Le Soléal made it possible to experience this raw, remote world up close through Zodiac landings, coastal cruising, and daily exploration of these wild places only few people ever have the chance to see 🥹

Lots more to come from this adventure!
