I undertook a passion project in Mbita constituency to document its development footprints. Mbita County Development Fund office had pumped money into improving, constructing or uplifting select social amenities. While at this, my teammates and I found ourselves in an intimate baraza which was housed in a newly constructed classroom. The chief who officiated that meeting was a woman defined as a walking circus. I was drawn to the man in a blue shirt. As we excused ourselves after taking a few shots, he also stepped out of the room. We exchanged niceties after which he went ahead to tell us why a group of 10 grown men and the chief had gathered that afternoon. When you swipe left, you will notice soil on his hands. So what pressing issue could have reduced his farming duties to a secondary thing? "A cow belonging to one of my village mate (let's call him Omuga) had trespassed into another's farm and ate a great chunk of maize from his plantation." I urged him to reveal or to confirm if there was a serious issue to be discussed. It did not make sense to me that a cow who will never know that a public meeting was convened to discuss its wrong doings was the main topic of discussion among 10 grown men and a woman. "We are here to discuss that issue and find a resolve before the sun goes down".
