Giza mrembo- The beautiful darkness! As she was walking through the croton thickets a quick movement caught her eye, a dikdik fleeing. As she watched it bound away her pose was classic- ‘the alert cat stance.’

Leopards of Laikipia- this is Kovu, although not a huge male he holds a very prominent territory and the scar he holds shows he is willing to fight for it.
His territory also covers Giza’s territory the famous black leopard of Laikipia. And we have got very strong reason to believe that he is the father of Giza’s cubs.

Giza through the bushes. Seeing Giza the black leopard of Laikipia is an incredible experience, being a black leopard is a distinct disadvantage as she often stands in stark contrast to Laikipia’s open acacia scrubland. But there are shadows she can hide in and when you get a glimpse of her through the rustling trees there is nothing more exciting!

Red elephants? Here in Laikipia we have many different soil types that contain different minerals with different make ups, giving them vastly different colours! This elephant has decided to have a mud bath in a very iron oxide rich soil which give it the striking red colours. Mixed with a little rain the colors are great!
