Explanation: Why Tourists Should Not Be Concerned About the Thailand–Cambodia Conflict?
The situation between Thailand and Cambodia is not a major international conflict like those between Israel and Iran, India and Pakistan, or Russia and Ukraine. Instead, it is a localized issue along the shared land border and does not affect most areas of either country.
As a precaution, the Thai military has closed all land border crossings between Thailand and Cambodia. This decision is aimed at securing specific border zones such as the area around “Mom Bey” (also known as “Chong Bok”), located near the meeting point of Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos. While land travel is currently restricted, international flights between the two countries continue as normal.
You may come across news reports highlighting unrest in Thailand, such as incidents near the Malaysian or Myanmar borders, hidden explosives in vehicles, or political protests in Bangkok. However, these issues are unrelated to the Cambodia–Thailand border situation.
Meanwhile, Cambodia remains peaceful and stable. There are no reports of violence, protests, or bomb threats. Tourists in Cambodia continue to enjoy a safe and welcoming environment.
In conclusion:
If you're planning to travel from Thailand to Cambodia, please be aware that land border crossings are temporarily closed. However, travel by air is still open and safe. Cambodia is calm and safe for tourism, and your trip within the country should not be affected.
