This pinkish hue is due to a microscopic algae, rich in carotene, that is a real delicacy for shrimps. And as every food chain, the shrimps are a real delicacy for flamingo.
That is the reason, after four years of this diet, the flamingos turn pinkish.

A seagull who loves equestrian shows!
I saw this seagull in the stands of the Saintes-Maries-de-la-mer arena, my first thought was that it wasn’t shy of humans!
I approached it after the show to see what all that was about and realized that it was guided by an instinct much stronger that its fear of human being; the instinct to protect it offspring.
The seagull had built its nest in the stands and no matter the circumstances it would incubate its eggs there.

The Camargue is a place rich in biodiversity.

However, there is one species that defines the Camargue like no other… Horses? Bulls? Flamingos?

Personally, I would choose flamingos, omnipresent on the ponds and undisputed masters of the Pont du Gau bird sanctuary.

La Camargue est un lieu riche en biodiversité.
Cependant il y a une espèce qui définit la Camargue comme aucune autre… Les chevaux ? Les taureaux ? Les flamants roses ?

Pour ma part, j’opterais pour les flamants roses , omniprésents sur les étangs et maîtres incontestables du parc ornithologique du Pont du Gau
