Do you know the colorful village everyone visits for photos today was once built out of pure survival?

Back in the 1950s, families escaping war came here with almost nothing and slowly built homes along the hillside, one above another. It wasn’t meant to look beautiful, it was simply a place to live, to start again, to make do with what they had. The narrow alleys and stacked houses weren’t designed for tourists, they were shaped by real life and struggle.

Years later, instead of being forgotten or replaced, the village transformed in the most unexpected way. Artists and locals added colors, murals, and small creative touches, turning it into something vibrant while still holding onto its past.

Now it feels like walking through a painting, but once you know the story behind it, it’s more than just a pretty place. It’s proof that even the hardest beginnings can turn into something full of life.

To the person reading this: take a moment to thank yourself for surviving everything that was meant to break you.
2024 wasn’t easy for me. I watched people I cared about leave when I started to grow, stood alone when I needed support the most, and faced moments where the only thing keeping me going was a quiet voice inside saying, ‘Don’t give up.’

Today, on the first day of 2025, I stand beside this empty chair—a reminder of the silence I faced and the strength I found. So here’s a thank you to myself: Thank you, Rizwan, for believing when no one else did. For holding on when the world turned its back. For choosing growth, even when it came with loneliness.

This year, I hope we all realize the power of standing tall, even when the chair beside us is empty. Here’s to resilience, self-love, and the courage to keep going.
