I finally got around to some more photo editing and uploading today. This is an old one, but I had a lot of fun photographing the maple trees in Korea in 2018. And it’s not like I have any recent trip photos to share 🤷‍♀️

It’s ! Mental health is SO IMPORTANT, and it’s heartbreaking that there is so much stigma around it. Over the last 10 years, I’ve grown so much. I’ve learned how to advocate for my mental health and what I need. I’ve learned how to set healthy boundaries. And I’ve learned how to give myself the time and space that I need. Whether or not it’s the same amount of time and space others need.

is a good way to slow down. Making (and eating!) homemade pho. And other home-cooked comfort foods. Those are my favorite forms of self-care. But let’s be clear. Self-care is not a panacea; it cannot fix everything. Because as much as self-care helps, years of therapy and finding medication that works for me has helped ONE MILLION TIMES MORE. And there’s nothing wrong with needing professional or chemical help. We need to talk about that more because silence prevents others from seeking the help they need.

Over the past year, I’ve worked hard to create a life that supports my mental health. And it’s taken a lot of work, but being able to advocate for myself has made all the difference.

I have this horrible habit of taking photos that I love, and then never doing anything with them. Because getting photos printed, at least in any significant size, is EXPENSIVE. But my favorite printing service just had their annual sample sale, and this is one of two photos that I got printed on metal. This one is 24x36, and it’s going above my fireplace.
I took this in Arusha National Park in Tanzania last year. I’ve always LOVED flamingos, and this was the first time I was able to get some good shots of a flock of them. Such a great trip!! When travel is finally safe again, I can’t wait to go back. And, as an aside, if you ever want to travel to Tanzania, I HIGHLY recommend !!

Apparently cats of all sizes like to lure you in with the “tummy trap.” Luckily, I resisted the urge to pet this cutie’s tummy. I don’t always resist when Norman pulls this move though...

Ok, I'm not a bird expert, but I think this is a white-headed buffalo weaver. Whatever it is, it posed very patiently for my photograph! Taken in Tanzania, 2017.
