Victory After 9 Long Years! 💙🩵
Wesley College has etched its name in glory once again, securing a memorable outright win over St. Benedict’s College after 9 years!
Leading the charge was an exceptional all-round bowling performance by Dinuja Samararathne, who claimed a remarkable match bag of 10 wickets, turning the game decisively in Wesley’s favour.
With the bat, history was rewritten as Shamma Jonathan Fernando became the first Wesleyite since 1895 to score a century against St. Benedict’s — a truly iconic milestone that will be remembered for generations.
Adding to the dominance, Kavindu Hettiarachchi played a crucial innings of 82, anchoring and steering Wesley through a strong first innings performance.
This victory holds even greater significance as Wesley’s last outright win against their rivals came in 2017 under the captaincy of Thisuraka Akmeemana.
