🌌 ලංකාවේ මේ වගේ පාලුවට ගිය පාරක, රෑ මැද තිස්සේ ගමන් කරද්දී ඔයාට මොන වගේ හැඟීමක්ද දැනෙන්නේ?

මරණය කියන්නේ අවසානය නෙවෙයිද? සොහොනෙන් එහා සැඟවුණු අද්භූත "තෙවන අවස්ථාව"!

සොබාදහම කියන්නේ අපි ඇසින් දකිනවාට වඩා හරිම අද්භූත, රහස් පිරුණු තැනක්. ජීවිතය සහ මරණය ගැන අපි හැමෝම දන්න සාමාන්‍ය නීතිය සම්පූර්ණයෙන්ම වෙනස් කරපු, මුළු ලෝකයම පුදුම කරපු සැබෑ විද්‍යාත්මක සොයාගැනීමක් මෑතකදී සිදුවුණා.
මේක ටිකක් අමුතුයි, හැබැයි 100%ක් ඇත්ත... අපි නිල වශයෙන්ම ජීවිතයත් මරණයත් අතර පවතින "තෙවන අවස්ථාවක්" (Third State) සොයාගෙන තිබෙනවා!
🧬 ජීවිතයත් මරණයත් අතර "තෙවන අවස්ථාව" (Third State)

සාමාන්‍යයෙන් අපි හිතන්නේ ජීවිතය සහ මරණය කියන්නේ එකිනෙකට වෙනස් අවස්ථා දෙකක් විතරයි කියලා (එක්කෝ ජීවත් වෙනවා, නැත්නම් මැරිලා). හැබැයි මෑතකදී කළ පරීක්ෂණ වලින් ඔප්පු වෙලා තියෙනවා සත්වයා මියගියත්, ඔහුගේ සෛල (cells) වහාම මියයන්නේ නැති බව.
මේ සෛල වලට අවශ්‍ය පෝෂණය, ඔක්සිජන් සහ සුදුසු පරිසරය ලැබුණොත්, ඒවා නිකම්ම ජීවත් වෙනවා විතරක් නෙවෙයි, තනිවම එකතු වෙලා අලුත්ම "බහුසෛලීය ජීවීන්" කොටසක් නිර්මාණය කරනවා. ජීවත්වීමත් මරණයත් අතර පවතින මේ අමුතුම තත්ත්වය තමයි විද්‍යාඥයන් "තෙවන අවස්ථාව" විදිහට හඳුන්වන්නේ.
🤖 ජීවී රොබෝවරු (Biobots)
විද්‍යාඥයන් විසින් මියගිය ජීවීන්ගේ සෛල යොදාගෙන පුදුමාකාර ජීවී ව්‍යුහයන් දෙකක් පරීක්ෂණාගාර තුළ නිර්මාණය කරලා තියෙනවා:
• Xenobots (මැඩියන්ගේ සෛල වලින්): මියගිය ගෙම්බා කලලවලින් ලබාගත් සමේ සෛල, සුදුසු පරිසරයක තැන්පත් කළාම ඒවා ස්වයංක්‍රීයව එකතු වෙලා කුඩා ජීවී ව්‍යුහයන් (Xenobots) හැදුවා. මේවාට තනිවම චලනය වෙන්න, තුවාල වුණොත් සුවකරගන්න වගේම අවට ඇති සෛල එකතු කරලා තමන් වගේම තවත් පිටපත් සාදාගන්න (replicate) පුළුවන් වුණා.
• Anthrobots (මිනිස් සෛල වලින්): මිනිස් පෙනහළු සෛල යොදාගෙන කළ පරීක්ෂණ වලදීත් මේ වගේම කුඩා ජීවී රොබෝවරු නිර්මාණය වුණා. මේවාට ශරීරය ඇතුළේ ගමන් කරන්න විතරක් නෙවෙයි, හානි වූ මිනිස් ස්නායු පටක නැවත සකස් කරන්න (repair) පුළුවන් බවත් විද්‍යාඥයන් නිරීක්ෂණය කළා.

බුදු හාමුදුරුවෝ අදත් අපේ අතරම ජීවමානව වැඩ සිටියා නම්...?🪔❤️

මහනුවර ඓතිහාසික බහිරවකන්ද බුදුරුව විහාරයේ ඉඳන් මුළු නුවර නගරයම දිහා බලාගෙන ඉන්න මේ ශාන්ත බුදු පිළිම වහන්සේ ළඟට ආවම හිතට දැනෙන්නේ පුදුමාකාර නිවීමක්.
මේ එකිනෙකා පරයා දුවන, ක්‍රෝධයෙන් සහ වෛරයෙන් පිරුණු ලෝකය දිහා උන්වහන්සේ අද හිටියා නම් කොයිතරම් කරුණාවෙන් බලා සිටීවිද?

ඇත්තටම උන්වහන්සේ අද රූපයෙන් අපේ අතර නැති වුණත්, දේශනා කරපු ඒ උදාර ධර්මය අදටත් අපිට ඉතිරි කරලා තියෙනවා.

A tiny world I stumbled upon in Galle... 🌊🐚🦀

When we were walking along the private beach at Jetwing Lighthouse recently, We had to stop and just stare at the sand for a minute. At first glance, you just see beautiful seashells. But look closer... the whole beach is actually moving!

I managed to capture this quick video of our local Hermit Crabs (කටු කකුළුවෝ). Honestly, spending a few minutes watching them made me realize how incredibly lucky we are to have untouched corners like this in Sri Lanka.

What makes these little islanders so unique?

🏠 They are Sri Lanka's ultimate house hunters: Unlike regular crabs, they don’t have hard shells of their own. Their bodies are soft and vulnerable, so they rely entirely on empty sea snail shells left behind by nature. As they grow bigger, they actually hunt for "upgrades" and move into larger shells!

🧹 Our coastlines' silent caretakers: They are essentially a free, 24/7 beach cleanup crew. They spend their entire lives scavenging and eating decaying organic matter, keeping our golden sands pristine, healthy, and odor-free for us to enjoy.

⚠️ The heartbreaking reality: When we visit beaches and collect pretty seashells as souvenirs, we are accidentally taking away their homes. In crowded or polluted parts of Sri Lanka, it’s becoming common to see these poor things living inside plastic bottle caps because they can't find a natural shell.

Seeing them thrive like this in Galle was a beautiful reminder. Nature doesn't need us to alter it; it just needs us to leave it alone. Next time you travel down south or hit any beach across our beautiful island, let's make a promise to leave the shells where they lie, bring our plastic trash back home, and keep these tiny locals safe. 🇱🇰❤️

ගාල්ලේදී මට හමුවුණු පුංචි යාළුවෝ රංචුවක්... 🌊🐚🦀

පහුගිය දවසක ගාල්ලේ Jetwing Lighthouse වෙරළ තීරයේ ඇවිදගෙන යද්දී මට එකපාරටම නතර වෙලා වැලි කැට දිහා බලාගෙන ඉන්න හිතුණා. බැලූ බැල්මට පේන්නේ ලස්සන බෙලි කටු විතරයි. හැබැයි තත්පරයක් කිට්ටුවෙන් බැලුවොත් තේරෙනවා මුළු වෙරළම ජීවයෙන් පිරිලා, හැසිරෙමින් පවතිනවා කියලා!

🚂 The Magic of 6:30 AM at the Nine Arch Bridge 🚂✨

There is something truly spiritual about witnessing the "Bridge in the Sky" before the rest of the world wakes up. We arrived just as the mist was clearing, and for a brief moment, we had this entire architectural marvel to ourselves. No crowds, just the sound of nature and the rhythmic rumble of the train crossing the valley.

🏛️ A Masterpiece of Engineering: Did You Know?

The Demodara Nine Arch Bridge and the nearby Loop are world-class examples of local ingenuity:
The "Bridge in the Sky": Built during World War I when steel was diverted for the war effort, this bridge was constructed entirely from bricks, stone, and cement—without a single piece of structural steel.
Aahas Namaye Palama: It is locally called the "Nine Skies Bridge" because you can see nine distinct views of the sky through its arches when looking up from below.

The Demodara Loop: Just beyond the bridge lies the famous "Spiral" loop. Because the elevation was too steep for traditional tracks, engineers designed a spiral where the train passes through a tunnel directly underneath the Demodara station, literally "tying a knot" in the track to reach the higher altitude.

❓ ඔබේ අල්ලටත් වඩා කුඩා පක්ෂියෙකු සෑම වසරකම කිලෝමීටර් 5,000කට වඩා දුරක් ගෙවා ශ්‍රී ලංකාවට එන බව ඔබ දන්නවාද?

මොහු අළු හැලපෙන්දා (Grey Wagtail). අපේ රටේ වසර පුරා වෙසෙන පක්ෂීන්ට වඩා වෙනස්ව, මොහු අධික ශීතලෙන් බේරීමට ලෝකය වටා සංචාරය කර මෙරටට පැමිණෙන අපූරු අමුත්තෙකි.

🌍 විස්මිත සංචාරය:
සිතියමේ දැක්වෙන පරිදි, මොවුන් සයිබීරියාවේ සහ හිමාල කඳුකරයේ සිට "මධ්‍යම ආසියානු සංක්‍රමණ මාර්ගය" ඔස්සේ රටවල් කිහිපයක් පසු කරමින් තම ගමනාන්තය වන ශ්‍රී ලංකාවට ළඟා වේ.

📏 පක්ෂියාගේ විස්තර:

ප්‍රමාණය: සෙ.මී. 18–19 ක් පමණ දිගු සිහින් සිරුරක් සහ දිගු වල්ගයක් සහිතයි.

තත්ත්වය: සංක්‍රමණික පක්ෂියෙකි (ඔක්තෝබර් මාසයේ පැමිණ අප්‍රේල් මාසයේදී නැවත පිටත්ව යයි).

සුවිශේෂී ලක්ෂණය: වල්ගය යට ඇති තද කහ පැහැය සහ නිරන්තරයෙන් වල්ගය ඉහළ පහළ සලන ආකාරය මගින් මොවුන් පහසුවෙන් හඳුනාගත හැකියි.

🏞️ දැකගත හැකි ස්ථාන:
ලංකාවේ ගල් පර්වත සහිත දිය පහරවල්, දිය ඇලි සහ වැව් ඉවුරු ආශ්‍රිතව මොවුන් බහුලව ගැවසෙයි. ඔබ මහනුවර හෝ නුවරඑළිය වැනි කඳුකරයේ සංචාරය කරන විට දිය පහරවල් අසල මොවුන් සිටිනවාදැයි හොඳින් නිරීක්ෂණය කරන්න!
