Two perfectly camouflaged Indian Nightjars resting through a gentle rain shower at Yala National Park

Blending seamlessly with the forest floor, these masters of disguise remind us that sometimes the wild reveals its magic only to those who look closely.

๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ World Snake Day๐Ÿ๐ŸŒ

Snakes are essential to our ecosystems โ€” controlling rodent populations, supporting biodiversity, and keeping nature in balance. Yet, these silent protectors are often misunderstood and driven out of their habitats due to human activities.

๐Ÿ“ธ In this photo, a Sri Lankan flying snake (Chrysopelea taprobanica)hides inside a cut tree โ€” a heartbreaking sign of habitat loss. Forest clearing and development are leaving fewer safe spaces for them to survive.

Letโ€™s raise awareness, protect their habitats, and learn to coexist with these incredible creatures. Snakes arenโ€™t enemies โ€” theyโ€™re vital members of our natural world.

Dark-fronted Babbler(Dumetia atriceps)
This small yet striking bird, with its chestnut-brown plumage, jet-black cap, pale yellow eyes, and whitish underparts, is a true gem of the forest floor. Found in the dense forests of Sri Lanka, the Dark-fronted Babbler is rarely seen alone โ€” it moves in chattering flocks through the undergrowth, always vocal and alert. Listen closely, and you might hear their sharp alarm calls echoing through the misty forest.

World Environment Day ๐ŸŒฟ

On this special day, nature speaks louder than words.

Strawberry (YF32) โ€“ the iconic female leopard โ€“ rests calmly on Welmalkema Road, unbothered and fearless in our presence. A powerful reminder that true harmony is when wildlife feels safe and at home in the wild.

Letโ€™s protect their world, so they donโ€™t have to hide in ours.
