"Eye to eye..."
The Fish Owl is a rare and elusive bird found in the Yala National Park in Sri Lanka. With a wingspan of over six feet, it is one of the largest owl species in the world. The Fish Owl is known for its distinctive hooting call, which can be heard echoing through the forests at night. This species is mostly active during the night and feeds on fish, crabs, and other aquatic creatures. The Fish Owl is listed as endangered due to habitat loss and degradation, as well as hunting and persecution. Conservation efforts are being made to protect the remaining populations of this magnificent bird. Pictures taken by my 12 year old during his college trip (S. There you go... another set of unique shots from my 12 year old's college trip (S. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia, Sri Lanka) to Yala... "Twinning..."
As a parent, it's always a joy to see your children discover their passion and showcase their talents. That's exactly what my son, at the tender age of 12, has done with his photography skills.

Recently, he went on a school trip with the Wildlife Society(S. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia, Sri Lanka), and captured some stunning images of nature's beauty.

The way my son - Aaron Avinesh Ebeneezer has captured the raw beauty of these majestic creatures is truly remarkable.

It's not often that we get to witness such moments of intimacy and vulnerability in the animal kingdom. My son's talent for capturing these moments, and his passion for wildlife photography, is something that fills me with pride and admiration.

I'm excited to see where this budding photographer's talent will take him in the future, and I'm grateful for this opportunity to showcase his work on my Instagram page... Stay tuned - there will be more to come this week...

"The Nightjar..."
Nightjars are a family of nocturnal birds found in Sri Lanka, known for their distinctive call and hunting behavior. hese birds are most active during the night, when they hunt insects in mid-flight using their large mouths to catch them. During the day, they are known to rest on the ground or on low branches, where they can blend in with their surroundings due to their cryptic coloration. Jerdon's Nightjar is the smallest and most common species found in Sri Lanka. They are often found in open scrub and dry forests, and their call is a distinctive "chip-chip-chip". Nightjars are an important part of Sri Lanka's biodiversity and are recognized as important bird species in the country. However, like many other bird species, they are threatened by habitat loss and degradation, making it important to protect their habitats to ensure their survival.
